Nah it still sold well but the poor reception back to back with 5 spurred the pivot back to horror with 7 which led to this second golden age the series is in. They always had the remakes in pocket so this series would have never died, really.

Now I’m really curious to see what 9 looks like & if they do go forward with 5/6 remakes.

I think the Porche driving sections will be similar to the boat segments of re4 remake. I'm still curious how it's all going to work. Wondering if it will feel super restricted like the car from ffxv and if you can enter and exit the car at will. Wish they would show us the game man but at the same time I want it to be a surprise

I’m playing through in VR for my second playthrough. So much of that game is like a fever dream. It has really strange pacing at times and yeah just a ridiculous story. Somehow it all works for me, even when it feels like it shouldn’t.

It’s like their modern take on balls to the wall RE5 boulder punching craziness. Ethan getting chewed on/arm cut off/ stabbed every 5 minutes is a great gag.

Long time fans generally were pretty tepid on 5 and 6 was that but waaaayyyy worse.

It was tonally really stupid and worst of all just kind of a s***ty co-op shooter

Also for context: this was a point where they were churning out these direct to Netflix slop cg films, so the general consensus was that RE had completely lost its way

I’ve beaten every resident evil game like 5 times minimum

Game is heavy on the fantasy but yeah I enjoy it quite a bit, gameplay is super fun and doesn’t really fall on its face how 7 does post Marguerite. Most ridiculous story in a resident evil by far though, thought 0 and CV were silly but 8 definitely takes the cake
