Rob49 is fire
Nobody said he wasn’t. But to list his name in a conversation about the genre’s strength in the mainstream is 2025 is hilarious
not really, think thats still extremely common its just also mixed with the same amount of rap influence cuz like its way more established
destroy lonely's fav artists are deftones, portishead, panchiko, paramore and his dad has talked at length about those types of influences being played in the home around him influenced him and being able to channel those into his own thing seperate from the hard 00s s*** his pops did w luda is what got him into rapping, his rap influences were people like duwap kaine, d savage, uzi
fakemink's inspos include imogen heap, dean blunt in a specific way thats clear
ken carson loves green day and slam metal, the intro to jennifers body is based on brain stew by green day u can clearly see his tastes in his music
Che loves EDM, witch house, hyperpop, etc and his music is unique for how much it pulls from electronic music
MIKE heritage is jamaican and he loves carribean music like dub and reggae which is clearly seen in his sample choices and rhythms, his flows are directly inspired by grime
uzi is a big fan of s*** like marilyn manson, paramore, rob zombie, simple plan beyond s*** like thug, kanye, ying yang twins
method man was born 1971 im not surprised he took influence from 70s and 80s music in his 90s reocrd the same way someone born in 2001 would take influence from 2000s and 2010s influence in their 2020s record
Good s*** right here
Y’all gotta realize that saying an artist isn’t good enough to bear the torch of the genre for the mainstream doesn’t mean we saying the artist is trash
Someone like JID is an incredible artist but he’s not moving the needle in the mainstream, he’s just not
Now compare this lineup of names to the new class at any other point in rap history and you’ll see how it doesn’t hold up whatsoever
now compare where those names were 3 years into their career and the fact I named FIFTEEN artists who got major traction in the last 3-5 years ACTIVELY on tour as well
:vlosereave:
singling out Rob49 and Osamason when the conversation had nothing to do with that but focusing the fact these artists are actively showing rap isn’t dead by putting on tours (something their peers from the SoundCloud era STRUGGLED to do even after major Billboard singles, including Carti) just continues to hammer my point that ya’ll being elitist as f*** and ignoring what’s happening IRL to believe internet narratives and whatever else Condé Nast told you it takes to be a successful, quality rapper

“when I was 13”
KTT2 has officially become oldhead central hahaha yelling from the porch about what you was listening to as a kid and why the younger generation today stinks
There wasn’t a million copies of the same niggas making the same bullshit when I was 13 lol I never wanted to be that old head but damn these new niggas make it so hard

People dont realize that today, a young man just open youtube, spit some bars on some type beat, and hes on
A lot of new rappers that are hot in last 10 years, spend a lot of time off the lights, then people discovered them at some point and point them as a "next rapper"
When JAY-Z released his first album, he already had more than 10 years spittin, Notorious Big spit since he was a kid
There wasn’t a million copies of the same niggas making the same bullshit when I was 13 lol I never wanted to be that old head but damn these new niggas make it so hard
there literally was
Pac and Big was about to give you artists they wrote 75% of the music for they just died
a lot of the legends was sourcing each other for their regions which is why they would inevitably collaborate

None of those artists are making any actual noise in the mainstream.
The bigger problem is "creative" rappers, who pushed the limits tend to not drop s*** for years or losing focus on music (apart from maybe Tyler) and average rappers dropping 30 song albums every year.
Also no upcoming new generation rappers who do creative s*** anymore.
None of those artists are making any actual noise in the mainstream.
and Dot and Cole weren’t making noise in 09’ but had been active for 3+ years

There is no on-the-rise rapper with even half the amount of talent and potential that Kendrick and Cole possessed back in 2009/2010. Be serious.
Tooked a lot of time to Notorious BIG mastered his craft
People dont think about the "time factor"
This video is 9 years before his first album

Please be serious.
Dot sold 3k with his label debut in 2011
Cole had 500 followers on Twitter in 2009 and was excited! lmfao
these niggas were not what ya’ll think, they blew right after this but weren’t touring like the 15 artists I named this quick into their careers

This s*** is not moving the needle and that’s okay!

2009 was focused on Jay, Kanye, Wayne, Eminem and the new young dog Drake
Dot, Cole, Cudi, all them niggas were not at that level yet or even being talked about like that and still had 2-3 years to go to finally be the main focus of conversations outside of just online. we were all there brother. we just had the biggest rap beef last year and prior to that had A LOT of new rappers go number one or make noise in album and singles, especially women!
ya’ll just complaining to complain
