do you only see streaming numbers or do you see other things as well like physical sales and Cole’s tour numbers that show the impact? Future’s tour with Metro was his first tour in 5 years and during that gap in time Cole was doing Offseason era, ROD 3/4 and Dreamville fest. how can we not say he’s more of a staple? cause of some streaming numbers?

I'm not denying that Cole is popular

Future just doesn't tour as often, but when he does he has no problem selling out venues

Cole is more popular when it comes to physical sales I'll give you that

    No it is not

Future has done arenas on numerous tours going all the way back to 2016

Again, you focusing on first-week sales when Future has more double-platinum albums than Cole does

his was a supporting act to Summer Sixteen tour

he doesn’t do arenas. he has a collab tour with Meek in theaters and his own tours before that in theaters then no tour from 2019-2024 until Metro tour in arenas lol

  • i think future is a million times the artist cole is in pretty much every respect besides lyricism, but the big three is settled and has been for over a decade. the time to litigate this was in 2014-2018, the debate is history now.

A reminder that NY lives in people's minds rent free due to insecurity and their inferiority complex.

Still nobody has answered why Future has more double-platinum albums than J. Cole does

Because he intentionally makes music that is aimed at the casual listener and clubs/radio

He doesn’t have to balance being a hit maker with being a lyricist and coming up with concepts outside of hedonism which is generally popular subject matter among the masses

I'm still confused though because Future is still very much a part of the Kendrick/Drake/Cole class more than he's a part of the Thug/Travis class

Future was on the 2012 XXL Freshman lineup, one year after Kendrick was on it

Pluto dropped before GKMC and had big songs on it in Turn On The Lights and Tony Montana. (Tony even dropped in 2011 and Drake hopped on the remix that same year)

It was never about commercial dominance or what year they came up, nor was future not being apart of the big 3 concocted mainly due to white aversion to southern trap. You are putting on a bunch of qualifiers that isn’t why they were called “big 3”.

But like for your own personal list or ranking it’s cool

Kendrick Lamar has to balance this as well and he has more double-platinum albums than Future

He did arenas on the Nobody Safe Tour (2017). Future Hndrxx Tour (2017), and One Big Party Tour (2023)

And needed Bad and Boujee Migos and Barter 6 Thug who were either doing their own tours or co-headline tours

he’s not bigger than Cole or more of a staple. he’s huge in his own lane with Thug, Migos and them and that’s it

  • Jim Halpert

    What’s it about

It was always about how similar Drake/kendrick/cole came up out of the blog era and focus on lyricism.

Hip hop wasn’t even mega dominant on the charts yet until 2016 so this whole commercial talk retroactively putting future in seems forced. Cuz it was

Now if niggas wanna talk about who was commercial dominant or influence in the late 2010s that a whole another discussion (which future would rightfully be apart of)

Has Future not been extremely dominant commercially throughout his career?

    • Third most #1 albums among all male solo artists ever

    • More streams than Cole on both Spotify and Apple Music (#3 on Apple Music and #17 on Spotify)

    • Third-most entries all-time on the Hot 100, behind only Drake and Taylor Swift

In the 2010s, cole album for album is stronger plus first week sales cole wins.
