Back in that coal mine.
Yall are honest with yourselves about those other “big 3s” being fanfic right? Cause the only real “big 3” is Drake/Kendrick/Cole
What happened
He already had a classic mixtape and was the de facto nigga for the college blog era not named Drake. followed that up with Born Sinner and a classic album in 2014FHD. he’s bigger and more of a staple. by the time future had his major moment in the mainstream with DS2 and his mixtape run, Cole was doing concert documentaries for HBO

He was that dude for the college backpack dudes. Myself included for a bit.
Cole got 3 albums with 369k+ , Future might have dropped more and got accomplishments off that, but I wouldn’t say he’s ever dominated. the closest he got was I Never Liked You era with a big album + single and Dot dropped 2 weeks later so that moment was nulled quick lmfao
That's just first week sales though. Despite having more projects that debuted with a higher first week total, Future has more albums that are 2x Platinum than Cole does.
I remember when Apple Music was unveiling the Top 20 highest-streamed artists on the platform and you were certain that Cole would be on the list, but he ended up not making it and Future came in at #3

You saying Coles impact is bigger than futures??
It’s not been 5 years and people are already forgetting about Cole man
What did you think of his albums?
I’m not saying he’s a bigger commercial artist than Future I’m saying overall his impact on rap as a lyricist and hit maker is overall more significant
It’s close though I’d put Future right at 4 again the biggest knock against him is he can’t hang with Drake and Kendrick lyrically, Cole can
Cole is a lot of people’s favorite lyricist of the last 10 years. Future is a lot of people favorite artist but he is not a lyricist brother

i mean they debating cole for pages now.. that one might be fanfic too

Best thing that ever happened to Jermaine.

He definitely is though
To be fair I’ve stood on this forever.
But yeah he did expose himself as a b****
Can’t be talking about being the best and slink away.
That don’t have anything to do with Cole always being apart of the 2010s big 3 discussion, which was always drake/kendrick/cole at its core and it was well understood what it meant
All this other thug/trav/future carti/uzi/trav bs was post 2016 or really post 2018 discussion

You can’t group future who blew up in 2011 with those clowns man.
Yes Cole was always in that discussion. It did wonders for his career

It's just Jim, that nigga ain't been happy since he been in his momma

It doesn’t matter what “I” do this is how niggas was discussing it, I never grouped him in there I said cutting Cole out with future is revisionist. That was never the intention of that specific big 3

I respect you’d have him at 4. I’m somewhat keeping to my gimmick but also idk if you could get someone to tell you Cole is their favorite lyricist of the decade.

Shaleirose has made better points than I have lmao

You can’t be serious it’s a million lil niggas who will tell you that I can’t believe you haven’t met one

I haven’t! Can you show me one pls

do you only see streaming numbers or do you see other things as well like physical sales and Cole’s tour numbers that show the impact? Future’s tour with Metro was his first tour in 5 years and during that gap in time Cole was doing Offseason era, ROD 3/4 and Dreamville fest. how can we not say he’s more of a staple? cause of some streaming numbers?
To the people that genuinely think Cole is bigger commercially than Future: how?
Future literally has him beat on every commercial category that you can think of
Only thing Cole got on him is having the bigger single album and single song between the two of them.
Overall catalogs considered, Future is in another stratosphere from Cole commercially speaking
