PartyNextDoor ever making good music.
People actually liking Tory Lanez.
J Cole being a top three rapper of the 2010s.
It's a conspiracy theory that 2slimey isn't the future of music
Labels are scared of him
That dj smokey first invented the sample technique used by all of the phonk producers (sgp, lil ugly mane, etc)
I love dj smokey so much but I'm not buying he was the one to invent that style of sample flip/use like he's been saying.
He was too underground at his start and it doesn't make sense he was influencing people as far back as 2010 or so. Bro was completely unknown until 2-5 years later and took another 5-10 before slightly touching the mainstream (or even be talked about much online like that)

idk how you niggas hear them raps and perspectives and say this dumb s*** lmfao
Those "raps and perspectives" were done better by Jay-Z 5 years before Mr Morale dropped
It's music, I can't call it a classic if I have no desire to listen to like half the songs on there. It's not touching GKMC/TPAB which each have like 3 skips for me

i think smokey is not so much a direct influence in the popularization of memphis/phonk in the mainstream level but he was around pretty much every influential cloud rap/underground artist in the early-mid 10s - he was part of teamsesh and prod for bones early on, worked with rvidxr klvn, metro zu, black kray, sadboys/drain gang, etc. he's a "streets will remember" type of guy imo. and even then he credits purrp and LUM as influences, there's a post on his ig from recently where he says as much.
as far as direct influence, his tapes were the blueprint for the producer/instrumental focused phonk that was popular on soundcloud and youtube especially from like 2015-2018ish. guys like soudiere, dj yung vamp, and whatever you see on the rare phonk youtube channel, are clearly influenced by smokey's take on phonk. and then after those guys was the people who started to focus on cowbell/drift phonk and house phonk and all the corny tiktok edit music that made smokey turn away from phonk music.

That Wayne is one of the greatest rappers OAT. His s*** hasn’t made any noise for well over a decade. He has damn near nothing to say, his features are generally ignored, his albums get very little attention (they all came and went since ianahb2), yet he’s propped up on some pedestal as a top 5 rapper by people who don’t even actively listen to him
worst take itt

Regarding early work I honestly had no idea he worked with those specific groups super early on at all
The posts he's been putting out claiming that influence makes a hell of a lot more sense now. I've known of him since the early mid 2010s but with him claiming he invented that sample use style I thought was BS knowing spg and ugly mane doing it at basically the same time but being WAY more well known for it (back then at least)
Smokey is still one of my favorite producers of all time regardless, I just thought he was talking out his ass lmao
you’re delusional 😭 it lit was a hit, either you don’t go outside or u lying
anti-drake fans are no different than drake stans lmao niggas just lie/say s*** for engagement
it wasnt as big a hit as some other records but to say it wasnt a hit at all is silly
