    This is the way

Plus my theater doesn't care if I bring in a water bottle

So I'm literally paying $5 out of pocket per movie

Sometimes 0.17 if I have the $5 reward

  • anyone know if there are trailers for imax 70mm?

    A list 20$ a month popcorn pass 30$

I’m too picky about movies to justify 20$ a month . If I watched more or even desired to yeah great but it’s not even every month I want to see something . I’ve only seen a lot recently to catch up on award nominations. I genuinely only care to 100% see spider man and Godzilla digger Odyessy for rest of year

Also I’m not loyal to amc with music box and cinemark going to have our 70mm imax

Once our 70mm imax drops I won’t care about much else and screen x . AMC the most places but the screens not life changing

I’m trying to BUST. AMC a list would be good for movies I was just seeing to nerd out or boredom

I mean it definitely saves money though. I still think the popcorn pass is worth it even if you just see those movies. You’d still save some. But yeah if you don’t go to amc mainly then A List not gonna be worth it. Just saying it does save a lot of money.

I genuinely do like buying a ticket and fully supporting. What I want to see more of . Yes a list supports median us amount but I just like doing that . Same way even though a gamepass or streaming music exist I still buy my all timers like s*** I want to see more of

Man I know theater prices are expensive nowadays but popcorn and a drink are not a necessity whatsoever when it comes to seeing a movie, I’ll never understand why people always bring that up when they talk about how theaters are pricing people out

You don’t have to get popcorn and a drink everytime you see a movie lmao

Also, only PLF tickets are pushing $20, a standard showing is like $15

You’ll see some post on Twitter about how theaters are too expensive and they showing their receipt and they ordered two large popcorns, three drinks, candy, a pretzel, and a bottle of water

Like no s*** it’s expensive if you getting all that

Even a ticket itself being 25$ in Chicago vs 11-13$ in the burbs of Chicago man . At times better screens in the burbs . S*** music box 70mm tickets are cheaper than amc standard showing both in Chicago

It’s okay to acknowledge some stuff is overpriced. It being overpriced leads to many only popping out for certain things especially since those on dates pay for date , those with family have to buy all those tickets .

I see specifically what I want to see not just whatever cause otherwise that Money adds up

This is Chicago it’s not just premium tickets pushing 20$ man lol . Matinee for Hail Mary for a 3:25 pm showing is 20.79 with the 15% off already applied

The price went up everywhere . While the quality of the screens remained the same . Many are wary of audiences talking or being on the phone or being obnoxious. Driving , parking , gas . People treat themselves to less social activities in a recession or just see what’s popping . People happily saw sinners. Hyped for mj . Hyped for moments but no logically not everyone will pop out for 10-20 movies a year . They still enjoy movies no matter what screen they watch on

Mind you . I am not saying I’m priced out I am saying I am selectively about what I personal spend time on seeing in theatres at all . I was saying it can get closer to a 100 easy if something bringing family or a date . Obviously if they just seeing the movie don’t have to pay for parking it’s 25$

Prices went up because of a multi year pandemic buddy . That’s part of why streaming went up so much . With many still choosing to avoid large crowds in confined areas if they don’t need to .

Yes but also because less people are going to the movies as frequently as they used to. Instead of how it used to be where people would go “let’s hit the movies and see what’s playing” once a week, nowadays the majority of people are only going to see 3-5 tentpole films per year that they were already anticipating

Less people going to the movies on average = prices going up for tickets

Less people are going due to price and quality . Great quality still leads to people going out .

    Disagree.

    1. Box office doesn’t correlate to quality. There are plenty of great films that made no money and plenty of s*** films that did gangbusters.

    2. There are plenty of people who would rather sit at home and watch on slop on Netflix because it’s convenient rather than drive to a theater.

    3. There are still plenty of high quality films being made today. This idea that films are worse now than they were in the past is just simply ignorant and not true

If you make good art people will come

    This is objectively not true

For example Blade Runner 2049 is seen as a masterpiece by a lot of people and that s*** bombed at the box office

Commercial performance does not equate to quality in any medium of art

I am saying there are plenty of successful for successful movies . People go see them . Some of them people don’t but this “ Netflix slop “ and “ we are superior cause we see in theatre s*** “ is corny

It’s not about superiority, it’s about acknowledging the fact that that section of people does exist

I never said people who go to a theater are better than people who don’t

But it is true that there are a large number of people out there who prefer to watch a movie in the comfort of their own home rather than go to a theater to see one, regardless of the difference in quality

There are numerous reasons why less people are going to theaters nowadays, quality of film is absolutely not one of them
