Russo-Ukrainian War

“We can do training and other support but the barrel of the gun is going to be European,” a member of Trump’s team said. “We are not sending American men and women to uphold peace in Ukraine. And we are not paying for it. Get the Poles, Germans, British and French to do it.”
That proposal in some respects echoes comments made by Vice President-elect JD Vance during a September interview, when he suggested a final agreement between Ukraine and Russia could involve a demilitarized zone “heavily fortified so the Russians don’t invade again.” Russia, Vance continued, would get to keep the land it has taken and be assured of Ukraine’s neutrality.

    From Axios:

    axios.com/2024/11/08/musk-trump-zelensky-ukraine-call

Behind the scenes: The call between Trump and Zelensky lasted around 25 minutes, according to the sources who were briefed on its details.
After Zelensky congratulated Trump, the president-elect said he will support Ukraine, but didn't go into details.
Three sources briefed on the call all told Axios that Zelensky felt the call went well and that it did not increase his anxiety about Trump's victory. One source said it "didn't leave Zelensky with a feeling of despair."
Musk also weighed in during the call to say he will continue supporting Ukraine through his Starlink satellites, the sources said. Musk did not respond to a request for comment.
Reality check: Much went unsaid, and much remains unknown. Trump and Zelensky did not delve into policies like Trump's purported plan to end the war, or the prospect of further U.S. aid, the sources said.

Most likely, but publicly allowing it is still a pretty significant escalation

that would be ridiculously high for the current state of the war

    https://www.defense.gov/News/News-Stories/Article/Article/3931856/ukraine-continues-valiant-defense-against-russian-invaders/

the US estimates 600,000 casualties, which would be about half of your rate on average. it's probably far lower than that given the current state of the conflict.

The British kinda confirmed those numbers tho (even more)

It's still the West coming w those numbers, but we have not much to go with anyway

thinking about the video of the red army veteran looking at nazis tear down monuments of his resistance to them. very sad video. pray for ukraine.

I'm not educated on this topic, but can someone explain to me is it possible for Russia to totally capture Ukraine and basically make it part of Russia.

Or is that impossible with the amount of support Ukraine are receiving from the West.

Ukraine is a big country. Conquering it all will be very difficult, but the hardest task would be keeping it under control afterwards. That's why the initial Russian plan was regime change

I don't even think Russia wants Western Ukraine. Population is more pro Ukraine unlike the Eastern part.

Dude in the Library was spitting something along the lines of:

If Trump stops supplying Ukraine with arms, Zelinsky will have to concede the land he's lost, and the war will stop.

Idk if that is an accurate prediction?

I find geo-politics overly-complex to really follow, so I don't like talking out of my ass about things I know nothing about.

if the war is gonna end the new borders will likely have to be the current lines of contact

like sorry to both sides (not really tho) but I think peace and avoiding nuclear war is probably worth it

I mean Russia getting crimea, the Russian provinces, and a neutral buffer state is a win in strategic sense

Ukraine losing the DonLu means losing most of its industrial power too

it wasn't a win for either side because now both sides, exhausted from years of pointless war, will be easy prey for the imperialists.

a lot can happen and the war coming to an end may open up new revolutionary possibilities. but so far all that has happened is the further underdevelopment of the region.

By imperialists do we mean the west?
