you can have a serious response now

that’s cause we’re in the russo ukrainian war thread. naturally the focus will be on instances of russian aggression. discussion of wagner activity in syria is relevant when Wagner is being mentioned, and especially when US activity overseas is used by Russian aggressors to make out like they’re leading some brave resistance to them

and yes russia has done more damage and cast more terror on syria than america. easy

i’d look stupid bringing up russia in a thread about the nato bombing of libya.

ask yourselves what each side has to gain from bombing the plant

    ukraine:

-gets rid of a bunch of a russian soldiers so ukraine can advance into a radioactive wasteland that kills their own soldiers and means that no one can live there after it’s liberated
-gets to blame russia even tho everyone who would ever side with ukraine and support them already does

    russia:
    -gets to halt ukrainian advance
-radioactive fallout mostly affects territory ukraine never even lost, and of the territory russia gained, ukrainians live there who russia doesn’t care about
-gets to engender further third country support by painting ukrainians as crazy and apocalyptic
-gets to look strong in the face of crisis after his authority was openly challenged

yeah i don’t think ukrainians are bombing it

i feel like you're reaching on some of this. Ukraine's offensive is largely being reported so far as one of few advances and overall stalling. At least this is the case in D.C. I'm sure for us that look much closer we see moves here or there but that isn't being seen as anything major. Even through the mutiny the Russian lines overall didn't buckle much

It's Ukraine that's actually on a time crunch to make gains before the NATO Summit, facing questions about why things are so slow and having generals like Zaluzhny coming out of hiding to complain about lack of weapons

Russia has occupied the plant since early in the war. We've spoken of the shelling on this plant for nearly a year now. Why exactly are they shelling themselves to cause a catastrophe now of all moments? Why not before, or in a couple months when there's potentially more critical advances? All of this a week before NATO meets?
