We haven't heard much out of there and it's been the most ruthlessly targeted and besieged. Of course, there's an incentive to overstate the losses, and this city in particular was reclaimed by the most virulent anti-Russians. You can bet the damage is staggering as well as the reported losses to be inflated as much as possible.

Chechnya yeah but Syria...it's a bit more complicated than that. Russia's involvement in Syria isn't as simple or really comparable to Ukraine. Assad's government formally requested Russia to be there and the purpose of them being there was essentially intervention against ISIL & al-Nusra. Russia's involvement in Syria helped the government gain back actual land like Aleppo. Any amount of civilian damage, while obviously terrible and to be condemned, by Russia in Syria is completely neglible compared to the mass amount of damage caused by the US & US allies, so if that's the metric you want to use there, the US is far more to blame since not only did the US do that, but is far more responsible for Syrian destabilization than anyone in Russia. That said, I'm not going to pretend Russia went there solely with the intention of helping Assad, obviously they have their own regional interests especially in lieu of regional oil competitors, so yes, they can be blamed just as much for individual benefit as the US, but their actions were far less destabilizing than US/US allies.

If assad asked formally then who we to question it

Yeah bro love him some Putin ay. He fighting against ISIS and Nazis. That is what a f***ing legend is!

The hydra is the west and Ukraine is a legitimate part of it. Its strategic exclusion from NATO has turned it into a battleground where Russia can bleed men, have their economy isolated, fearmonger broader Europe into unity, etc. NATO has long worked with the most reactionary, violent people in a region to prop up their status quo endgame.

The only losers here are the actual Ukranian and Russian people. Ukraine's regime is being decorated, lauded on a global scale. Putin's support in Russia has been bolstered. Ukraine's most bloodthristy militants are living out their dream. Russia's most bloodthristy militants are living out their dream. The average people in Ukraine are being turned into refugees and casualties. Russian citizens will be living in a desolated, isolated economy.

What does victory or defeat look like for the actual people here? I mean I guess people in the Donbas will have their lives improved. That's it.

Most of the ukrainian people you apparently feel sorry for are not nazis in the slightest, and support their government resisting the invasion

How do you reconcile this? Ukrianians don't want to just throw down weapons

It's all well and good claiming to be on the side of ordinary people. And one would be correct to state that they're the victims of this war

But you don't get to deny the fact those same ordinary people in Ukraine ain't happy being invaded either.

And none of this would happen if Russia didn't invade

It's pretty obvious who's at fault

Just give up the Donbass and Crimea and call it a day

We can talk about that now

But if the dombass and crimea were enough initially russia would have invaded only donbass with full force, taken there and then held out

    They wanted something else

Also you don't mention the parts of donbass like mariupol which dont want to be russian

Reconcile what? Your delusions that I'm pro-Russian?

I think that's something you'll need to reconcile on your own. Preferably in therapy.
