    There’s different mediums here though

ya can’t go oh Bundog go spin Lucian’s crib. Chubbs go press Bill ackman or Janick

To ā€œpressā€ or ā€œbe toughā€ to a label is through litigation or corporate tactics unfortunately

Didn’t even think about it like that but yeah you right there’s that angle as well

It’s not gangsta that’s for sure but that’s a different conversation

Being tough and gangsta/abiding by street code aren’t mutually exclusive

It’s tough ass white boys who not gangsta and will beat your ass call the cops on you then sue you lmao

I don’t think Drake is a ā€œstreetā€ nigga but he is a tough resilient son of a b**** and he’s a hustler in his own right not in the d*** dealer sense obviously but he’s a bag chaser for sure

drake is cosplaying the tough ass white boy who wants to be black(wish he was raise in black culture/ by a black mother) who gets beat up and can't go to the cops because you know pdf allegations are still being investigated, but still tried to sue his boss because the other guy got employee of the month, while exposing the secrets that got him the spot in the first place.

Street Niggaz are Extorting DRAKE, duh...

Cash Money and J Prince are Pimping Drake lol

I’ll always appreciate the versatility projects for what they are and are attempting to be.

My worry was that he had forgotten, or maybe even lost the care to make a solid body of work that doesn’t appease every corner of sound for fans he’s gained over the years.

But he proved me wrong with ICEMAN. This guy can absolutely do it.

I’ve always had a problem with this idea that Drake is somehow ā€œcosplayingā€ as a tough guy

I think it’s some group think bs that doesn’t really mean anything.

Like first off Drake NEVER says anything about being from the projects selling d**** or non of that. He not out here rapping like he 50 Cent then stepping out the booth as Aubrey Graham that would be nuts.

All he ever has done is rap like a self made confident powerful black male with goons at his disposal and there isn’t anything inauthentic about that. That’s exactly what he is irl. Also the whole world has been trying to tell him who he is since he came out so OFCOURSE he would be defiant and defend his honor, that’s not ā€œcosplaying as a tough guyā€ that’s normal man s*** that I would expect anyone with balls to do

In black America there is this fallacy that hood niggas somehow have a monopoly on being tough but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Some niggas from the grimiest hoods tatted from head to toe be sweet as pumpkin pie on the inside. And it’s mfs who never been in the hood at all but are absolutely ruthless, it’s a mf like that in every board room.

Also by my estimation the nigga Drake IS tough. Surviving 15 plus years of scrutiny and still being dominant confident and never ducking smoke is tough as nails I honestly don’t know how he does it. Mf has balls of steel. Most people would be curled up in a ball crying themselves to sleep at night if they got a fraction of the negativity he gets. And also think about it, all this time and no one is coming forward with footage of this nigga get slapped up or bullied or punked by anyone. If he so soft why is there no evidence of it aside from his OWN deliberate preferences for aesthetics that are more in touch with his feminine side.

I think what you described in your last paragraph is better described as resilience rather than being tough. And it depends what you consider proof, being peed on and just taking it isn’t tough. Being slapped by diddy isn’t tough and those were both around the time he started acting tougher. I agree that toughness doesn’t have to mean gangster or from the streets.

People can for sure change, especially over the span of 15 years. My problem with Drake is he act as if he will hurt someone along with acting like he was people to do the dirty work for him.

Not to mention Drake talked publicly about this at the beginning of his career when he talked about Wayne telling him to be his authentic self and not talk about tough guy s*** or shooting/stabbing.

It’s also worth noting that to some people, having people around you that will do dirty work for you doesn’t make you tough, quite the opposite. It may mean you don’t mess with them tho sure. I think Chubbs is tough, I think Baka is tough. I do not in any way think Drake is actually tough in the sense. I think he is resilient.

    It’s all relative man

    Being tough is a spectrum

The nigga obviously ain’t Beanie Sigel and he ain’t about to square up with real gangsters but he has shown more than enough heart to talk how he talk in his raps that was really what I was getting at

And again most of the time when he raps about violence he is speaking from the perspective of being a general and calling shots not doing the s*** himself so that’s not cap

Only time he’s referenced getting violent himself is during the beef when he challenged Dot to a fade and I think he would really do that for real

Also resilience is a type of toughness

Having tough skin is also a type of toughness
