drake did have connects to bayarea, its one of the 1st places in usa that was rockin with him (same with clipse too ironically lol), my older brother has a physical cd of comeback season he got from one of drakes events in the bay - and he has paid homage to bay with the motto too (we respect it but think the song itself is corny and not authetic, was a cool reach tho especially the video)
which is why i have a love/hate relationship with drake since the 2020s and how it first starts with his weirdo s***, then the beef s*** topped it, and how i dont like any of his music outside of hnm this decade
and one of the reasons the 2pac s*** was a very big deal and what sealed his deal - LA and Bay are not fully unified ever since Mac Dre happened and LA was player hating on Bayarea being the biggest west out till mac dre died then game came up - drake could have easily had the bayarea on his side against LAv or neutral, but the 2pac s*** literally united LA and Bay with how 2Pac is home and very important o both and it became an attack n diss to the whole state - but 2pac is literally family with family still laive in bayarea and from the black panthers which is by oakland
kendrick is also very connected to the bayarea as well, been there early af and helping the literal communities and doing rap battles along with majjor love to e40 and keak (kendrick is the first LA nigga the bayarea f***s with him since the late 90s early 2000s, and kendrick always has given an olive branch on and off the tracks - the only one from LA) - so bayarea was literally a free agent that could have been swayed to team drake or team kendrick, but drake his own dumbass self chose for us

Obviously not completely on topic to the album but I know that west coast connection was important to Drake reaching a broader audience I mean s*** The Motto being literally one of his biggest songs and linking with Mustard and them. Just wish it didn’t go down like that and definitely understand when it goes beyond the music and reaches community that it’s not as simple as just saying oh it was just beef or it’s just a song
