Ngl this can’t even be a conversation. The weeknd hasn’t dropped an interesting or ground breaking album near the level of Blonde Endless or Channel orange since he popped out in early 2010s

PND and Bryson has influenced way more when it comes to sound.
It is tougher to compare Frank to anyone and maybe says something about him as well. More unique and more of a musician, when compared to his peers.

i love frank but sometimes the internet treats him like some kind of untouchable sonic angel. like yes, he’s amazing, emotional, aesthetic, all of that but people act like every song he breathes onto is a sacred artifact.
i honestly think part of it is because he disappears for like ten years at a time, so this whole mysterious art-boy aura forms around him. meanwhile the weeknd is out here constantly evolving, dropping albums every 2-3 years, doing massive tours, changing eras like outfits, and despite releasing way more music, the quality really isn’t that far behind frank’s at all.
lowkey, i think consistency is part of artistry too. being able to repeatedly make great music without vanishing into the ocean for a decade is its own talent. the weeknd manages to stay mainstream while still making atmospheric, cinematic, emotional music. frank might feel more “special” to some people, but that doesn’t automatically make him leagues above everyone else.
