Not mad at that. Again, just think highs of FATD are stupendous. The R&B especially is really great. I think if I lined up my fav songs b/w the two album, 4 of the top 5 are FATD songs
May 8TML has fireworks, the resistance, Show me a good time, up all night (classic Nicki verse), fancy, unforgettable, Miss me, and Fond you love. It’s literally a stacked album full of classic songs
May 8·1 replyomorahiRespect your take. It’s the Drake album I play the least. Played it in full yesterday while cooking and…man…to me it’s clearly Drake’s worst project. I think every album after (and SFG) are way more polished and skillful executions of what he was attempting on TML. Like some of the hooks on that album seem so out of place with the rest of the song.
Plus - He’s spoken about it himself, but you could definitely hear/feel the label influence on the project.

Agreed on timeless hits piece. I think the lows of TML are more present and lower than any other “album”

First the journalists were mad that the hip hop artists were starting to run it up in the podcast game.
So this was Elliot, B Dot, Ebro, Rosenberg, etc.
Now it’s the streamers competing with the podcasters and so it’s a similar reaction, just further down the chain.
Meanwhile they all hating on a dude that recognizes shifts in the food chain and is proactive about making sure he’s always top dog…not talking the label either

I think Drake gives sit downs to certain people to come off as accessible to a demographic that might be considered the cheap seats in media even though they kinda are, even if we hate to admit it, more prominent today than figureheads in hip hop media. And I think he also looks at the Elliot Wilsons of the world as feeling entitled to a sit down. That’s why they get so flustered when he sits down with that bird chick bobbi or whatever.

I think Kendrick and Drake are both extremely successful, catering to streamers is something I expect Quavo or Iggy Azaelia to do, because they need relevancy much more than Drake or Kendrick do
