And streamers, as much as these people hate to admit it, and I am not really into streamer culture, is the newest and best media outlet today.

That’s why Kendrick allowed streamers to be a big component of live reacting to his songs during the battle. Nothing wrong with that.

It’s just how they narrate it is kinda silly and illogical depending on context.

Yeah but Kendrick did it in a way where he wasn’t trying to be a streamer or be included, just let them all react to his music and stayed out the way, the way Drake tries to be in the streamer world just looks pathetic to me, like the old nigga at the club buying 21 year olds shots

  • Like what’s the inherent difference between a personality like Funk Flex premiering your song or a fill in the blank streamer?

They’re both going to be cartoonish characters.

Yeah, they twist and turn narratives to suit what benefits them or their alliances in the industry.

It is just phony, when acting like they are being objective.

Shoutout Wayne man. Top of the world and still let his artists eat what a GOAT

  • For me, NOKIA was the 2025 song that lit up any setting it was played at (and still does). Deserved to be a number 1 record but alas…

On ICEMAN, the top of my wishlist is that he has even one song that is that level of fun/catchy/universally loved. 🤞🏽🤞🏽

I get it man. But idk it’s not really this egregious thing to me personally.

I think Drake gives sit downs to certain people to come off as accessible to a demographic that might be considered the cheap seats in media even though they kinda are, even if we hate to admit it, more prominent today than figureheads in hip hop media. And I think he also looks at the Elliot Wilsons of the world as feeling entitled to a sit down. That’s why they get so flustered when he sits down with that bird chick bobbi or whatever.

    Impossible

i really see TML as a classic

Respect your take. It’s the Drake album I play the least. Played it in full yesterday while cooking and…man…to me it’s clearly Drake’s worst project. I think every album after (and SFG) are way more polished and skillful executions of what he was attempting on TML. Like some of the hooks on that album seem so out of place with the rest of the song.

Plus - He’s spoken about it himself, but you could definitely hear/feel the label influence on the project.

I’ll take Drake shooting the s*** with streamers over Jay Z super polished and scripted interviews with GQ or NYTs any time.

Her loss release night was so f***ing wild, from the stories that mfer was uploading to ig to the great mix we got on Sound 42 and finally the album being a f***ing banger

Don’t think we’ll ever experience anything like it again…

That label influence resulted in some of his most timeless and biggest hits so it’s not a negative imo. tml is still going strong to this day

Agreed on timeless hits piece. I think the lows of TML are more present and lower than any other “album”

    You gotta track the trajectory.

First the journalists were mad that the hip hop artists were starting to run it up in the podcast game.

So this was Elliot, B Dot, Ebro, Rosenberg, etc.

Now it’s the streamers competing with the podcasters and so it’s a similar reaction, just further down the chain.
