And I wouldn't say Don is pathetic as much as he is realistic. The show is basically Gatsby in the 60s (instead of a bootlegger he's an adman but still a conman and Weiner even hijacks the "think of me as Moses baby in a blanket" line straight from Fitzgerald and how Gatsby viewed himself as the son of god, and Roger is obviously the old white dude teaching him how to say "old sport" but in 60s lingo lol)

While Don can obviously be abhorrent, I've found that his trappings and failings are absolutely those of which his type of character would expect to have. I love how it's so realistic and Roger, Pete, don, even Peggy some episodes is being corrupted by nyc but are addicted to it. after working in the city for 7 years now I can say I truly see all of that s*** and have experienced some of it myself especially with the addiction issues

end of the day its just so well written that he is such a detestable character at some points but just like Tony and Walt you root for him regardless lol just my take but I love the show & don biased lol

yeah man seriously, after watching madmen I realized why a lot of my fav sopranos episodes are either EP'd or written by Weiner and terrance winter ofc only made everything so much better. sopranos truly had the best cast and production crew EVER and I will take Weiner's writing over Chase's any day of the week (especially after many saints of Newark lmaoo)
