In my opinion, he’s going to do one of two things:

    1. Tough guy raps that surround numbers and the “they had to team up just to try to keep the score close” angle. A concise album that cuts deep to the core of hip hop. Makes a lot of the audience “regret” how they smeared him over the last two years.

    Or

    2. Hit after hit and act like nothing ever happened. Maybe small jabs. (Think scorpion approach)

What I would personally like is scorched earth and exposing things regardless of consequences. Just completely crashing out. But we all know that’s not happening lol.

Yeah then we about the same spot

At this point, do we think any of the songs from Episodes 1 through 3 will make it on the album?

    I'm leaning towards no

Drake lost not even debatable but it was definitely more than “just a battle” and seems disingenuous to say it was imo like people definitely tried to get bro out of the paint

Yes I am asking what do you want him to talk about

It’s hard because I used to love when he talked about his life experiences but now he’s not living a life I wanna hear about and is not relatable at all.

It was a clear agenda and when you would point it out people would say you were hating . There is profit to be made from tribalism rather than act like both artist are talented human beings . Some fans genuinely believed Drake would be arrested that year and wanted it to happen

If there’s any songs related to just the instrumentals, yes. personal bias

That’s part of what I’m getting at . Talking about his dating life or luxury life even before the beef had reached a redundant point so now what does he discuss.

He still has great hits with deeper meaning like do not disturb or one dance but what does future hold when can’t be tough guy mob ties . When people expect him to getting close to settling down being a dad

He is close to the point of taking a Jay Z or Nas like break of living life making a company then rapping again when he feels

I don’t know how someone can watch these videos and not want him to address the industry? Is it not what he is alluding to ?

They are winning the f***ing championship. Their chemistry is crazy and you see how Bron is acting now?? You can tell he’s not just going through the motions anymore. Idk what happened but they’ve all bought in.

Oh yeah… no. Maybe what did I miss. Kinda like a hotline bling Situation… it’s literally the same timeline of release vs album release if he drops in April/May.

Well there’s already rumors swirling that he’s on v4 of this album. But obviously take all of that with a grain of salt. I wouldn’t be shocked if there’s some merit to that though. It seemed like he was truly geared up with momentum from the episodes last fall and it fizzled. Could be that this was the plan the whole time… who truly knows.

Like he can’t even address UMG on the album because then they wouldn’t release it

He did not expose the industry on the beef songs ….

There was nothing scorched earth about false domestic violence claims or saying it’s not Kendrick’s child

Idk how would anyone could possibly know this… he literally got surprised with two albums and a barrage of diss tracks. With two years under his belt, given he now (hopefully) understands how people feel about him, we could be in store for anything. I’m not even talking about Kendrick specifically. I’m just saying in general. He’s gotten s*** on for two years. He’s going to address that. Whether it’s option 1 or 2 or a mix of both is yet to be seen.

Entirely this . Kendrick as I’ve said from beginning deserved that love for his discography before all this . Deserved that chart success before all this but he got it for the negativity of the beef . Which again makes clear the people who profit most from the beef are UMG .

Would Kendrick have ever seen that level of success and admiration without the beef ? No

I say that as a Kendrick fan infinitely more than a Drake fan ( I listened to Gambino and couldn’t listen to two forlorn rappers with corny lines lol) eventually got into Drake some but not at all level of others

You’re 100% right. Drake and Kendrick have always been my top 2. (Drake, Kendrick, and Cole my top 3) I’ve always felt Kendrick was a little slighted in the praise and recognition. It always felt to me like a backhanded thing. People propping him up to s*** on Drake versus genuinely appreciating his craft.

That being said, I can’t imagine that’s truly what he wanted. Sure he may have wanted to stomp out Drake and knock him off on the mountain and be the top dog no pun intended lol but their careers are forever tied together for better or worse. That new sect of a fan base he has gained and being the industry darling isn’t genuine. Kendrick takes his time with projects but with the way the industry is today and the standard Drake set, you can’t go away for more than a year or 2 without dropping consistently.

Just very interesting the route Kendrick took to be the undisputed leader in the game

  • Jbreezyondeck

He wouldn’t be nearly as big commercially but damn if Drake stayed in that real backpacker lane I think we would’ve got some amazing music out of it

Agree with all of this. All three in my top 5. Sucks that they will never stand on their individual merit anymore. Those of us that came up with them knows what it was like prior though when it was really all about the music

“undisputed leaded in the game” lmao. This dude is living in lala land. Even Future has been way more of a hip hop leader than Kendrick and he doesn’t even try. Where’s is Kendrick’s leadership coming from because his music for sure isn’t influential enough for him to be leading from that??
