It was received solid or good numbers but I guess in a way what do you want from ice man

Me personally I do want him to dissect or diss the industry itself at its core . Not Kendrick but Lucian , Diddy Jay Z . The people he feels control the industry
I want a more Sacramento moment but get it will be more focused on hits or Kendrick rather than call out his grievances with owners

it would be the smarter move to play into this more than the kendrick stuff

and that’s what he should’ve been doing

He sued one of the people listed

He sued UMG for defamation because they wouldn't censor Kendrick and it was dismissed. And Drake didnt sue Lucian

Exactly what I’m getting at . If he plays into the Kendrick part it’s a lose lose situation. 2 years later what angle can he go at Kendrick at that he couldn’t 2 years ago ?

“ The motion argues that Drake “now also has reason to believe that Grainge was personally involved in decisions made regarding the marketing and promotion of Not Like Us around its release … Given that plaintiff has alleged Grainge to be one of the individuals at UMG who acted with actual malice, plaintiff is entitled to seek discovery into Grainge’s files for the purpose of proving Grainge’s actual malice”.

Drake and his lawyers were unable to provide proof of this claim. They were just throwing s*** at the wall and seeing if something could stick. Thats why it was ultimately laughed out of court

Also why do Kendrick fans camp this thread to reply to a post about “ what do you want to hear from Drake ? “ even in a post where I make clear Drake lost the beef lyrically , technically , character wise

Yes he still largely successful. It’s not like he fell off the charts but he lost more than he gained in the beef in all forms

I am saying if laughed out of court . Still would be interesting to hear his mindset in the art . Even if he likely won’t win the court of public opinion because people want to hate him . If he doesn’t address any of it at all on the album it would be more odd ?

I don’t need him dissing Kendrick further what would be the point . What can Kendrick diss Drake about that he already hasn’t said. There is nothing worse than being called a pedophile. It’s already exodia of rap beef with Drake because of how he set himself up

MJ called the industry the f*** out but once he was called a pedophile people focus on that . Even if MJ was right about the industry

This is exactly what I’m saying whatever the red button is go in. I don’t think the red button was believing Nigerian rumors of Kendrick vent a domestic abuser

The album is gonna be sneak disses, passive aggressive shots, a few direct shots peppered in, lyrics in the vein of what did i miss, etc.

He's not gonna go at the powers that be on this album.

He wouldn’t be nearly as big commercially but damn if Drake stayed in that real backpacker lane I think we would’ve got some amazing music out of it

I don’t think the album will be more sneak disses at anyone that can respond because they could simply press play on not like us . Again once you get called a pedophile no one cares if you f***ed Rihanna first , have the most hits or none of that

Main thing id like to his is him not try and keep up with the trends. No rage music, no jerk beats. And a tighter track list

Pedophilia , Nazism, rape , domestic abuse are all accusations that once there is any level of merit you can’t really call out others on sneak dissing . Maybe sneak diss LeBron or those you feel betrayed you but even then them betraying you shows they view some level of merit to the accusations or they distance for political reasons

In my opinion, he’s going to do one of two things:

    1. Tough guy raps that surround numbers and the “they had to team up just to try to keep the score close” angle. A concise album that cuts deep to the core of hip hop. Makes a lot of the audience “regret” how they smeared him over the last two years.

    Or

    2. Hit after hit and act like nothing ever happened. Maybe small jabs. (Think scorpion approach)

What I would personally like is scorched earth and exposing things regardless of consequences. Just completely crashing out. But we all know that’s not happening lol.

Entirely this . Kendrick as I’ve said from beginning deserved that love for his discography before all this . Deserved that chart success before all this but he got it for the negativity of the beef . Which again makes clear the people who profit most from the beef are UMG .

Would Kendrick have ever seen that level of success and admiration without the beef ? No

I say that as a Kendrick fan infinitely more than a Drake fan ( I listened to Gambino and couldn’t listen to two forlorn rappers with corny lines lol) eventually got into Drake some but not at all level of others
