Not every region is based off another part of the world. Only Gen 5-8 is other regions in the world. Gen 1-4 are based off areas in japan. 5-8 is based off other countries

Gen 1 - is based off the actual Kanto Japan
Gen 2 - is based off Kansai, Tokai and eastern Shikoku Japan
Gen 3 - Is based off Kyushu Japan
Gen 4 - is based off the northern Hokkaidou japan

Gen 5 - USA
Gen 6 - France
Gen 7 - Hawaii
Gen 8 - England

Gen 1 is the only region where Kanto is literally a 1 to 1 of the Kantō Region in Japan.

Legit only Kanto is a 1 to 1 of the region it's based off. The others in Japan take reference to the regions they're based off.

Gen 5-8 are more inspired by it's region. Like Castellia city is really the only city in Unova you could probably tell is based off New York City. Like how many snowy areas is in Hawaii for Aloha.

Lol you missed out on Gen 5. Those games were pretty cool imo. The starters kinda lame outside of Serperior but I think the plot is actually pretty good and the secondary characters as well.

After that it takes a huge nosedive lol

Now, I'll say this won't happen. The slow movement in DP was completely by mistake. GF forgot to go back and raise the speed of the game. That's why it was fixed in Platinum lol
