Glad they weren't on it. I don't know about Drake's decision-making lately if he thinks all these singles need some of these rappers on them.
Probably its his way of showing love to upcoming rappers he f***s with but it seems like most of them aren't ready or willing to deliver on many of these tracks.

I think explanation better than the others because, it's always him showing love first before anything is final.
very plausible
I don't want it to sound malicious or contrived, because I'm sure Drake likes these artists, gets creative juices from them, finds new flows from them, and likes to stay current and relevant.
But we all know you have to realllyyy solidify yourself before you make a Drake album, for better or worse.

He shows love first because he's taking advantage of his leverage and position.
"I see this rapper's hot, let me give him a record with me on it for his album so when his fanbase sees his new project and single, I'm on it"
Maybe on the charts but that song will RING OFF in concerts and festivals. It's an amazing hype song, especially when you're working out. It also passed the car test.
Definitely passed the car test. I didn’t think it would get me hype and then one day I was feeling good and it came on and made me feel even better
Also, a quick 16 and hook from a record Drake has no real plans for allows him to stay relevant in between album cycles.
S*** is calculated.
Sounds right. The song's influenced by them
Can't tell if this is sarcasm. Don't hear any keem/carti influence on whats next lol
I feel like Drake uses these acts like Carti, Keem, Lil Baby, for their clout and uses them as a guide when it comes to writing with like, new flows and s***.
By engaging with them, he stays tapped in with what's next (no pun intended)
Trippie redd with God's plan, this, Lemon Pepper with Rod Wave, Lil Baby with wants and needs, etc. Laugh now with Dark
I don't even mean this in a bad or malicious way it's very clear that on some level, he's keeping tabs on what's hot and trying to stay connected
I'm not disagreeing with you but when people say this it sounds one sided but they benefit from it way more than Drake. Drake gives out Sicko Modes Life Is Goods and plenty of other hits when he doesn't have to. Gunna asked him for Solid and Drake told him he could have it. We've heard stories like that about him for over a decade now.
It's a fact that Drake is easily the most generous artist in the game. He gets called out more for working with new rappers (his peers don't get the same criticism) but he'd get called out for ignoring them too. It's a lose lose for him
Whats Next definitely would've benefitted a lot from Carti and Keem.
Track in desperate need for more energy and they would've made it way more bearable to go through.
God's Plan didn't need Trippie Redd. Toosie Slide didn't need Lil Baby. Lemon Pepper Freestyle didn't need Rod Wave. What's Next didn't need Baby Keem and Playboi Carti.
I agree with all of these except Baby on Toosie. He would've slid on that beat no pun intended

The producer himself literally said it was a carti type beat. And the flow and use of repetition is baby keem esque.
And the fact that both were finna be on the track suggests as much.

so many facts KTT2 cant handle it

Turn it up in the gym/during a run and it GOES. Very solid track. Didn't like it at first but it's definitely grown on me.

Many of them get nervous and for good reason.

Toosie Slide didn't need a third verse and I maintain that it also didn't need Lil Baby lol.

I thought you meant the actual rap on it. Which don't sound like Carti nor Keem.
The beat really don't sound like a playboi Carti type beat to me, but if he said that it is what it is. Now if it sounded like the typical pierre type beat Carti raps on then I'd hear it.

It's lame, but I think it's more about the era we in now. Not just Drake. Akademiks was just accusing Future of doing the same thing, using newer artists for their clout.
I feel like you cant collab with anyone now as an established artist without niggas thinking theres something else to it.
We also know Thug was supposed to be on it at too since we have his version. Would be interesting to see all the different variations of songs in his discography
ehh
i think WATTBAS was a completely different song, but Drake just liked the lyrics he used at the end of his verse so much he built another song around them

The beat sounds like a water down wlr, art dealer type beat (control, king vamp)

Cus of the distorted synth being used?? It's literally just the synth from Jaded with trap drums lol

Lmao it woudjve been way more fun don’t be such a prude
