As Tall as Lions - As Tall as Lions
Not sure why but I'm not feeling this album as much as I should. I think the level of craft is very high, the instrumentation/arrangements, singing (lead and backing), production are all good but it doesn't connect with me much. I think the singer's voice and style might be part of this, towards the beginning of the album I like it but I just get sick of it after 45 minutes. He's objectively a very good singer though. There are also some kind emo-ish moments on here which normally isn't my favorite type of indie/alt rock. For the instrumentation there are a lot of detailed parts like some horn or bright percussion type thing (Bell? idk name rn) and everything is layered well. None of this really stands out to me much though but at the very least I don't dislike any of this while it's playing. It sounds like a very mid 2000s indie rock album but at the same time I don't think it sounds like a copy of anything, they have a specific sound. did remind me of radiohead or coldplay type stuff a few times though. My favorite songs were Stab City and Ghost of York and my least favorite was Maybe I'm Just Tired.
6.5/10
i completely understand, i really wish they wouldn't have broken up because i feel like if they made music into the 10's they would have mastered their sound and made something that would have stood the test of time
and it's crazy how your least favorite song is my favorite, i love how music hits so differently for other people, that's the beauty of it
hopefully you didn't dislike it so much that you don't wanna check out their you can't take it with you album, it's a bit more refined than self titled
An update to the prompt for next week:

Week 3
A Day to Remember - For Those Who Have Heart

🌚
First album I bought
Chiodos - All's Well That Ends Well
Chiodos definitely has a crazy amount of talent and I do think that the production and instrumentation is top-notch, but I really don't enjoy the vocals or the lyrics at all. For example, in the first song, Craig Owens sings "If the wind were down, I could drive the boat with my sighs" and that...kinda set the tone for me. It'd be great if he dialed back on the Shakespeare references a bit as well. He delivers a great performance, but I have never really found this style of singing pleasant. Chiodos does what they do very well, and I get why they have a strong following, but whatever is clicking for others just isn't doing it for me. However, I'd definitely peep an instrumental-only version. I do like the song "The Words ‘Best Friend’ Become Redefined", though.

Doesn't sound like the theme then huh
Doesn't sound like the theme then huh
we just gonna have to roll with it
so i am gonna mix things up this week, it'll be for the best though.. i changed the theme but i'm still gonna add the albums that were submitted for the previous theme
ultimately i just want people to share good music with each other.. thays rhe ultimate goal, i dont want you all feeling like this is a homework assignment
there's something fulfilling about sharing an album you love with others and seeing their reactions to it, so hopefully we can still have fun with this
