how it should be
10/10 - Incredible
9/10 - Fantastic
8/10 - Great
7/10 - Really Good
6/10 - Good
5/10 - Decent/Meh
4/10 - Pretty Bad
3/10 - Bad
2/10 - Almost Nothing Redeemable
1/10 - Worthless
s*** should just be based off feeling when u think about the album in ur mind too, not some bs bout how every song add up mathematically quality wise
Y’all really ITT mad because they gave this a 7.6 lmao, that might be the most fair review score I’ve seen for this album so far.
It’s a really good album, and 7.6 is a good score, but it’s definitely not the 10/10 album that people are saying it is
Realistically I’d probably give it an 8.3 at this point in time so 7.6 isn’t far off BUT I do think there’s a bit of bs in the actual review
They just wanna sound like intellectuals
Hate when people use difficult language when there are more accessible ways to get the same message across, clarity over complexity always
At some point it just becomes a circlejerk of people who made up imaginary concepts to flex their knowledge of complex words and ideas that have no basis in reality
My man, Kendrick tries to sound like an intellectual
. These are his people and they’re s***tin’ on him because he didn’t execute his critic bait properly. You live by the critic you die by the critic.
“My soul for the money wasn't the trade-off
Unlike most of you boys that fade off”

Oh you worried bout a critic? That ain't protocol
After a lot of spins i'll give it a solid 9
Better than DAMN to me, and more enjoyable than TPAB (better is another question and we will see)
GKMC still on top tho
you have any idea how many times they’re required to listen to a given project? I know that’s kinda a weird question
It's not hard to understand it's just trying to make his point more profound than it is
He coulda just said it's not pop instead of trying to sound like an academic
I agree with your general point that people use verbose vernacular to sound intelligent when they’re dumber than a box of rocks - see Michael Eric Dyson - but in this case it’s apt.
Antipop is a good term because it’s not only that Kendrick made a “not pop” album, it’s like he purposely did it the opposite of a pop album. Ironically, this kind of pretentious soundscape (to go against mainstream sound) is usually lauded by the critics.
I think time is up for Kendrick in terms of being the white liberal darling. He didn’t go hard enough for his Auntie and kind of cocked up his olive branch to them - like Chapelle did.
Still need to read the review but I agree with the score, this album is around an 8. But so was DAMN
So what exactly is the purpose of having Kodak on there anyway?
I can infer smth myself but i don't think it's obvious when looking at how he was used on the album
That's a good question tbh, I feel like Kodak plays into all the themes of the album, the savior thing, the r Kelly thing, etc. I really have to listen to it more to take everything in I think
Yeah but what does that mean exactly
Maybe it's not that deep and just him trying to distance himself of that image of being a savior since he's associating with somebody people don't like
He's flawed, not this amazing person that people think he is
Damn he flopped on Pitchfork too?!?!

Drake doesn't even get as much joy from this as you stans on here do
Nigga is gambling Adonis' college tuition away not giving a single f*** about Kendrick reviews or sales. Yall weird

lmfaooo this is gold
i definitely think this is one of those albums dumber people will not understand
You’re doing the J Cole Stan thing tbh
Why people care so much about reviews and critics?
If you enjoyed the album, that’s all that matters
Kendrick stuck a pitchfork up their asses that’s why they’re being mean
