Critiquing art based on the implications you read into the content rather the way it’s executed within the strengths of its medium is intellectually inept. Pitchfork might as well just be Vice or Vox at this point

theDonandOnlythis is seems like such a step up and return to his GKMC/TPAB peak compared to DAMN imo. crazy to me that this got a worse score
even at the time it seemed like sites like Pitchfork were overrating DAMN a bit because the critical consensus around Kendrick was so unbreakable coming off the back of TPAB
I like Damn. a decent amount but holy s*** was it overrated on release lmao
