Exactly lol same thing with Yeezus in a way. Niggas were convinced Kanye broke his classic album run and called it a death grips rip-off. Now it’s influential in its own right
yall also said TPAB was gonna be influential just cuz it was different and it didn’t happen
I love he album even better after reading this awful review. Damn.
No that's the wrong album, this one is called Mr Morale and The Big Steppers lol
yall also said TPAB was gonna be influential just cuz it was different and it didn’t happen
But it did happen

It’s a fantastic album
"he makes himself the main character in his queer relatives’ stories "
what did they mean by this
I feel like that where people getting it wrong
Song can be criticized but ultimately it's not for members of the LGBT community or their advocates. It's for the people that ain't.
Kendrick never made it for Pitchfork or to win Ally of the year, it was just his truth

fr wtf are they even talking about, it's his f***ing family he can say wtf he wants

Critiquing art based on the implications you read into the content rather the way it’s executed within the strengths of its medium is intellectually inept. Pitchfork might as well just be Vice or Vox at this point
If Kodak wasn’t on the album you wouldn’t even be saying this.
I know you
ngl i forgot Kodak was even on the album

Stephen Kearse is the worst writer at Pitchfork and that's saying a lot lol
Pitchfork lost all credibility after their CLB score. That album was clearly a 10/10
this is seems like such a step up and return to his GKMC/TPAB peak compared to DAMN imo. crazy to me that this got a worse score
even at the time it seemed like sites like Pitchfork were overrating DAMN a bit because the critical consensus around Kendrick was so unbreakable coming off the back of TPAB
I like Damn. a decent amount but holy s*** was it overrated on release lmao
