class wariointeresting point re: older albums, actually, and I completely agree.
RYM was ruined by all the Fantano fans going on there and turning it into a weird popularity contest by proxy instead of just cataloging their listening habits, discussing and reviewing albums etc

RYM is by design the most pretentious place on earth and probably the absolute worst and most racist review site when it comes to rap music opinions. an influx of post-tpab rap fans did irreversible damage to its album ranking, scoring, and review format. again by design it provides noting substantive as 99% of reviews can be boiled down to 'I liked it' or 'somebody might like it'. its has its place but its subpar music a***ysis. not to mention the quality of writing which is also abysmal being that, understandably, not everybody is a writer, but anybody can leave a comment there
these kid a type of reviews are under every single zoomer classic album of the month on RYM and they are impossible to read just the same
