The first part of your argument I do find interesting, although I was responding to the idea that capitalism has never been successful. I do see that it can seem toxic especially in recent years, but I do believe it is generally positive and can continue to push humanity to breakthroughs in science and technology that make everyone’s lives better. I don’t think it should be without some sort of regulation though, I know it’s not perfect. But I think we can find a balance between decreasing the wealth gap and getting rid of capitalism entirely, which quite honestly makes everyone’s lives better more than people on here seem to think.
Do you have any sources for the claim that “supply and demand is pseudoscience” cause that’s a bold claim I really don’t see backed up by the real world (or any established sources)
The reason it's not backed up by mainstream sources is political, as politicians have become more deregulatory since the 50s this information has been largely wiped out from college econ departments with some minor exception especially since reagan, however it is fact and has been since capitalism has ever existed. Here are some academic sources.
To read
The Myth of Barter by Graeber (this is pretty much an anthropology standard as far as I know)
The economics of Keynes by Dillard (this is an easier to read version of Keynes, the economist who was responsible for getting us out the great depression)
Talking to my daughter about the economy by Varoufakis (a lot of this info can be summed up in here in a readable fashion)
Or you can watch this channel it has a lot of great summaries of this info

whole playlist is solid ( has worked with oxford )

Too many resources for people to be starving
Too much advanced tech for people to be dying
Oldhead once told me it'll take a change of heart, for things to change for the better.
What made our hearts so hard?
Why are we so obsessed with greed?
Y'all wouldn't want to share clean water with your neighbor when they're parched?
You wouldn't give them that extra rice when they're starving?
f*** all that
we all die,
lets stop the mass suffering
What is it? I’m asking this out of ignorance
Capitalist, been that for abt 30 yrs now
u talking about people losing the desire to work, thats cute.
Capitalism makes me lose the desire to live
why?
Well if it didn't what incentive would anyone have to do any work, which everyone needs for society to function.
I have a hard time believing anyone would do anything productive or difficult for society (of which there are many things) with no incentive. There are things nobody wants to do that have to get done, and only get done because people are rewarded for it. That's just life. There's really no easy solution that'll fix everybody's problems and make everyone happy
bro just saying s*** that dont make any type of sense lmao
what incentives are there under capitalism that you're arguing for?
Not getting evicted? Literally we're having worldwide protests this year (even with a pandemic) over the issue of police who defend private property over human lives because once again, money is more important than the well being of humanity in capitalism,
maybe im not connecting to exactly what you're looking for, i apologize, this is just the way i see it
profit? capitalism is literally run by the desire to earn profit. You have the opportunity in a capitalistic market to be one of the big dogs. You realize america is pretty much a capitalistic nation right? It's the reason why no one goes to Venezuela to look for work lol. There is no incentive to do s*** in socialism or communism. It slows down the economy.

it’s almost like there’s sanctions by the US on venezuela that affects their ability to provide jobs and the like
When doc says i got 179 more seconds to live
hard
crine
some of you cant understand the difference between an economic system and a form of government
The 1% will always intermarry and trade weath each other, that's not secret.
But as from the common person, their has been people poor asf who made it, so it's not like the common people don't have a chance at all.
I'm just saying as exploitive Capitalism, it proved to more successful imo.
meritocracy isn’t real
it’s almost like there’s sanctions by the US on venezuela that affects their ability to provide jobs and the like
It’s always somebody else’s fault
You remove capitalism and you remove free market supply and demand
AKA the best system of weighing up the wants/needs of consumers against the output of producers
Socialism and communism are proven to result in wasteful economies that produce goods that nobody needs while having shortages of goods that people do need. When you replace a free market with a centrally planned economy this is inevitable

i’m curious, define capitalism in your own words (don’t look it up)

all the things you described are also features of capitalism. we produce enough food for 10billion people yet billions go hungry every day.
it's also leading to the unprecedented acceleration of climate destruction, which simply can't get addressed with free market logic. if profit is the only motive, protecting the planet isn't even in the equation. and soon it'll be too late.

nice one bro now look at US interventions in Venezuela in the past 100 years. then look at other countries with large oil reserves and what imperialist countries have done to them.
mfs be like ugh don't want the big government ruling my life then simply replace the government with 'employers' and become wageslaves. socialised healthcare = bad! Coca cola murdering union organisers = good!
true liberty is on the libertarian left. flatten heirarchies, oppose all discrimination, kill your masters

Free market economy & right to private ownership pretty much

The beauty of capitalism is that as consumers demand more in the way of climate conscious practices, companies are forced to implement these things in order to retain their customers, which is something you see everywhere these days. Much more efficient than taxing and relying on the government, which wastes money
