pg lang has a huge ego to think we will invest in someone we know nothing about without any warm up, back story
they do all this secret, unauthentic psuedo mysterious marketing
and finally we hear something and the guys music is bland, generic rip-off diet travis scott bs
once again edgy black dark mysterious theme
this is the growing pain's when starting your own label
major labels know how to market people they have years of experience there is a science in marketing...
For anyone who is confused as to why this is such a big deal (check out the bottom pic)
PG Lang basically skipped the first 3 stages and immediately think we are going to be Loyal and Advocate (Listen to Music and Share) for someone we know nothing about
This ain't how business works
Idk why ur getting s*** for this ur absolutely right
The whole vision of the company is not knowing who they are or what they're actually about. They just know they wanna serve you mysterious vibes with everything they do.
Not even being smart cause I know how people get with you on here, but to talk like this I'd think you'd have to be employed by pgLang or you've read an interview that the rest of us missed.
pgLang is multilingual. Our community speaks music, film, television, art, books, and podcasts — bescause sometimes we have to use different languages to get the point of our stories across. Stories that speak to many nations, many races, and many ages. That is why our writers, singers, directors, musicians, and producers break formats when we build ideas and make them real for the curious.
Putting round pegs through square holes is not a process, but we embrace the idea of anarchy and challenges that make us stronger. pgLang is focused on using our experiences, and nurturing our many collaborators, to build stories that are equally accessible and engaging then fitting them within the best media.
That's their actual mission statement. I don't see anything about mystery or uncertainty about what they set out to achieve.
Drake Stans terrified of Kendrick lol
Everything he does threatens them
fam you about to be 10 years late with this whole thing. please
All that Baby Keem momentum is now gone. S*** is really crazy when you think about it.
Dude went from writing Kendrick’s most commercially successful album to being diet Travis
He had so much hype as the man up next too
You hate to see it
Yo this the same site that s***s on labels day in and day out. Also the same site that is championing artists like Kanye or even Nipsey who try to find a different way to navigate this industry. All of a sudden everyone is supposed to adhere to the same charts and graphs and stats and profit profit profit? Of course business is a part of it. But art also still matters.
The nigga's introductory tweet says he's here to disrupt or whatever. Again, if you think the approach is corny, that's COOL. But a different approach in and of itself is far from corny.

Anyone im beefing with is a no name

he's pretty sucessful i'd say?
Yet you’re in a thread commenting on their artist writing a whole paragraph..
I never got this, are we not supposed to have meaningful discussion on a music forum
Idk why I even feel the need to share different perspectives on here when it comes to s*** like this lmao I don't even like the damn songs
Fair, that's just how it comes off to me
"Hey let's make a black and white music video for your song
With The Villians", lets make it really raw and dark
In it lets put a guy with tattoos, a guy BMX riding, some NightVision Security Footage, a hot chick smoking, and at the end of the video we will get a drone and you guys will all look up like you are looking into the abyss of the moon"
That is exactly what they did.
this just comes off as extremly cringe man
You been spitting for a couple pages now bro. My exact problem with this. It’s all aesthetic and the actual music is completely derivative and boring

Brilliant post

Been 5 years since this nigga Kendrick has dropped anything
Nobodys been terrified or threatened of a nigga that isnt dropping music. Relax with the corny stan-wars narratives
I pray to god Kendrick don’t use his next project to give this dude a platform
why you so spiteful
you act like dude stole your groceries or something
yea dude's music is sour mid but c'mon man
The issue with the mysterious introduction is that it sets the expectation really high and when the music is mediocre it creates major disappointment

That's the type of heat I was talking about in the thread earlier that comes with association. Obviously having Dot as a face and voice for pgLang has immense benefit, but there's also that other side of it. Homie isn't gon just be able to build his thing and get the career started without all the unnecessary scrutiny cause of who's attached to it. Sacrifices lol

Playing devils advocate, but majority of people besides internet music heads don’t even know wtf pgLang is or it’s association with Kendrick.
Maybe their intention is to target that niche audience first to create some sort of a ‘hive’ culture before starting the typical awareness campaign. It’s The Weeknd blueprint.
We underestimate how people take pride in discovering an artist first.
The issue with the mysterious introduction is that it sets the expectation really high and when the music is mediocre it creates major disappointment
Why does it set the expectation really high? Where does that stem from?
Why does it set the expectation really high? Where does that stem from?
when having limited knowledge on something it can peak interest. and with interest (usually positive connotation) people set higher expectations. the effect is greater when you’re associated with a high quality artist like kendrick.
Why does it set the expectation really high? Where does that stem from?
usually just a kind of expectation that the "mysteriousness" is for a reason, like an unknown prodigy or some kind of unknown meteoric talent. the "mysterious" concept of introduction is usually to create a like mythos or something around an artist, like to give this air of importance or something - this obviously quickly fades if the music doesnt match that. people expect this usually because of how "mysteriousness" is presented in not only movies/media (i.e. hidden talent comes out of nowhere or some shadowy figure is actually a mastermind/master prodigy), but also because of how many successful artists using this have been marketed - i.e. Weeknd's initial rise was marketed like this basically, and obviously his music was extremely unique so much so it's still being talked about with high merit years later.
Guess I'm the only nigga that liked the music video and song. Its obviously a giant Travis ripoff but tbh I dont mind it cus its not offensively bad.
That other song he got on streaming is kinda lame tho.
I definitely see why people are hating tho. PgLang gives you a kinda weird first impression with that unorthadox Q&A video of him, so you expect something special and then you just get a guy whos not doing anything special at all.

dude seems like a weird mix of Travis Scott and Night Lovell. I'm pretty sure there's a music video where Night Lovell was literally dressed identically
really would like to know who the guy is related to or what connections he has. don't say this in an insulting manner, but he clearly knows someone. he has no presence or history at all, and has no following or anything anyway. no one gets into the industry like that w/o a connection - it's just not the way the business works.
