The fact that we still have not found the virus in the wild (which we usually do) and have not found the intermediate animal that would have transferred from bats to humans (which we usually do). The fact that the virus outbreak occurred thousands of miles away from the closest known bat colony, but in the same city as a lab that focused on specifically modifying bat coronavirus so that it could more easily infect humans. The fact that multiple employees of this lab were hospitalized in the winter of 2019, just weeks prior to the outbreak.

On the other side we have:

A study that says it is natural, published by people being accused of covering this up.

If you operate under the assumption of somebody’s guilt or innocence, it become very easy to ignore evidence to the contrary (we’re all doing ITT, including me with this post). I can’t say for sure that it leaked from a lab, you can’t say for sure it didn’t. I agree the investigation should pan out, however I agree with Lou that the investigation shouldn’t be handled by people involved in it

Scientists are certainly not infallible, especially not those doing hugely unethical research. They’re human, if they f*** up massively they’re gonna try to cover their asses. They aren’t, by virtue of being scientists, unable to lie or fabricate papers.

If it was a natural occurrence, then there’s nothing to cover up. But if it truly leaked from the lab, then there was a cover up, because the people involved in the research would know the virus that was f***ing up the world was the same one they just engineered lmao. You kinda can’t argue one without the other. I’m not agreeing with everything Lou is saying, you were coming across as being very opposed to the idea of it having come from a lab and I was initially replying to that. Now you seem to be agreeing that it’s plausible, you’re just disagreeing that it had a large scale cover up, and I’m not mad at that.

In my post I said “being made/leaking from a lab”, I agree it doesn’t have to have been man made to have leaked from the lab.

Whether it was made in the lab or it leaked from the lab, there would have been a cover up on at least some scale to hide this. It could’ve been a single worker in the lab who covered it up. But I don’t see any plausible way that it leaked from the lab and not a single person from the lab put two and two together. That’s the logic behind the idea that a lab leak would indicate a cover up to some extent. And if there was no lab leak, then there would be no need for a cover up.
