I recommend reading some of Harold Bloom’s stuff. He’s a literary critic, but it applies to all art forms imo
he has a big swinging canon tho so maybe pull up with a relevant essay
We actually getting fire movies this December

Don’t Look Up gonna be social media bait more than a story. McKay doing his s***tiest Christopher Guest impression.

I think this interview is a good introduction to what he’s all about

then if that interests you I’d definitely recommend reading The Western Canon or How to read and why

Reading through some of your posts itt I think he has some legitimate counterpoints to your take on art’s role that may push you further

does anyone know what he refers to ?
Was a strange moment in the theater too
one character has an Japanese wife and does a bad Asian accent… what he is referring to is audience members laughing at the Asian accent, as if it was accurate, rather than laughing at the character for being an idiot
Never seen so many white people clap throughout a movie
Mfs started clapping when the movie started Like a marvel film hahaha
Never seen so many white people clap throughout a movie
no clapping during the movie but they were clapping hella loud at the end of the movie. s*** was cool but not good enough for me to wanna applaud at the end
also was surprised by how loud and how often the crowd was laughing throughout the movie. The movie is definitely funny but nothing in it was laugh out loud funny to me
also that racist asian scene was really racist and was really unnecessary/didn’t add anything to the movie.. but that s*** was still pretty funny ngl
solid like 8.5/10
also I feel like if I was sitting further back than the third row maybe my viewing experience would have been better but not sure if I wanna pay to see again when it gets wide release.
does anyone know what he refers to ?

True but if the roles were reversed it would be really hard to make a truthful movie in this scenario where the older guy wasn't just thirsting after the younger girl the whole time.
Alana does have affection and she gets jealous of Greg, but it's because she's dealing with immaturity she hasn't grown out of yet. She could have "pressured" him into s***at any point in this film. It's a flirtatious movie about two characters who need each other, not necessarily in a sexual way.
It would be possible to make an intelligent and good movie if the roles were reversed, for sure, but they weren't and this is the movie that he made and I think it's amazing and funny and beautiful.
racist? it’s called being honest to that time. my mother in law is half Japanese btw
