"In the house, Tate pleaded to be allowed to live long enough to give birth, and offered herself as a hostage in an attempt to save the life of her fetus, but both Atkins and Watson stabbed Tate 16 times, killing her. According to Watson, Manson had told the women to "leave a sign—something witchy". Atkins wrote "pig" on the front door in Tate's blood."
Atkins being this crusty ass b****:

who was played by her, which explains why she got mauled the worst:
And yea Brad's character wasn't a saint but I still aint feel no sympathy for them girls at all.
And let's say you're right and she didn't stab Tate, she's still f***ed for participating in that and allegedly holding a pregnant woman down while she's fighting for her life
Elric need to take the L on this one
You one of my fave movie guys on here but dude
come on.
Plus Brad was great too
I liked their relationship but one of the most off-putting cheers I ever sat through at the cinema was when Brad's character absolutely liquified those poor brainwashed teenage girls. Brad, who was shown to already be a wife killer and tough enough to easily whoop Bruce Lee
like can y'all simmer down the stakes were not that high here and this man is enjoying this way too much for someone on acid
Lmao how you calling baby murderers “poor teenage girls”
I know QT likes rewriting history to have a happy ending but we all know them guys was going to to murder Tate and her baby. So yeah QT wrote what SHOULD of happen to them
Pretty sure the man did all the stabbing in real life. It's funny because all these films full of violence toward women and Quentin really set himself up for his magnum opus with the Sharon Tate murder... but he tastefully decided defy those expectations in favour of.... having an overpowered woman killer mutilate them? Idk it just seemed like such a f***ed choice but I'm no Sigmund Freud... I just share a birthday with him
Lol can we stop victimizing women in movies as if QT doesn’t have crazy violence towards men too?
Dude you must be getting the best old school feminist p**** to be uncomfortable on behalf of a micro minority of women who give a s*** about that. My mother and grandmother both thought that scene was hilarious.
Elric forever my nigga but I’m confused af how he calling them “poor teenage girls”
Like didn’t we love when Hitler got shot tf up in Basterds?
Why can’t we cheer when Sharon’s killers (male AND females) get f***ed up?

I love Elric but he’s dead wrong. He seems to be reading into Tarantino’s motives in this weird twisted way where he thinks he’s like getting off to doing harm to women. Tarantino for the majority of his career has written strong female characters who have kicked a s*** ton of ass and f***ed up plenty of male bodies. The by comparison smaller instances where women in his films get hurt has been exaggerated. It’s much less than your average slasher film. The only thing I can see here where he decides to highlight this violence in this way beyond giving people catharsis for a historical tragedy is to double down on the silly criticism he’s gotten over this kind of stuff in the first place. The whole film is sort of sticking it to people who believe fictional violence manifests real violence. That conversation in the car with the Manson girls talking about violence on television encapsulates this point. Sharon watching herself and the audience smile at her is another significant scene in the film. It’s about that last glimmer of warm light existing in the worst of darkness.

Ok yikes but still the finale of Hollywood was some garbage. Even if this is what happened in real life the audience absolutely howling and cheering at Brad Pitt liquefying this chick's face and Leo charring the other one just didn't sit right with me. Same thing with Django when he kicks Jamie's metal face thing and says "cock a doodle doo, ni**er"
gales of laughter
Quentin really knows how to hit those notes
No it doesn’t cus that’s my least favorite QT
Well f*** me for cherishing Quentin's strengths which are tight narratives me
dialogue
Hollywood dialogue felt like he could have been written by somebody else for the first time in qt's career

I don't think I'm doing it on behalf of anybody
it's just how the psychology of the film hits me personally
The screener is out?!
🧢
Which?!
I don’t want to expose myself

I know QT likes rewriting history to have a happy ending but we all know them guys was going to to murder Tate and her baby. So yeah QT wrote what SHOULD of happen to them
Because the girls were programmed and brainwashed with d**** by a charismatic cult leader
I see them as victims. Maybe I'm just playing devil's advocate because I think QT is gross.

I don’t get why any of this makes you uncomfortable. People are adults. They know it’s fake. They’re laughing at it cause it’s over the top. It says nothing about the artist or the audience around you. If anything it’s like there’s a spotlight shining on you saying “you’re a weirdo” not anybody else.

Dude just cause it's fake doesn't mean it doesn't say something about the artists psyche. As you know we have dramatically different perceptions on art and what it's supposed to be and do.

Love how you’re defending Hateful Eight which has a running gag of a woman being punched a million times. She’s not actively trying to rip a baby out of someone’s stomach either. She’s chained up and has nowhere to go. You just have bizarre hang ups with films.

Well I'd rather talk to you about music but you've ignored the last handful of times I've tried showing you something
even after you specifically ask questions about Costello and U2 and stuff and I answer but you don't respond. You love chiming in on these discussions though even though you know we always have to just agree to disagree
Also daisy domergue was a f***in badass that didn't even give a s*** about the beating she took

yeah you definitely biased. those girls are at least 65% accountable for what happened to Tate

“It’s the new pta movie” b**** u know who u talking to right now
But also

damn row 3 tho
still gonna go but will prolly do a rewatch when it gets wide release in a more comfortable seating (if the movie is good)
guess I’m have to get some norcos for this one. Only way I’m sitting that close to screen for 2 hours without being fazed smh

Tell me if I’m wrong but isn’t The chick in Hateful 8 smacked around pretty badly by Kurt Russell and never gets no heroic arc? I could see someone complaining about that but fam said that movie a masterpiece so idk
