Every time he releases a film, he’s got the game on lock, it’s the best movie of that year

He’s a genius, but are all of those actual masterpieces? That’s how I feel about PTA.
Of what I’ve seen…
Masterpiece:
Totoro
Spirited Away
Really Great:
Kiki’s
Movie I Need To Rewatch Cause People Swear It’s Great But Does Nothing For Me:
Mononoke
Good:
Ponyo

PTA has a mix of masterpieces and great films, same with Kanye’s albums
I’d hardly call punch drunk love and the master “masterpieces”, especially in comparison to films like magnolia and there will be blood which are some of the best films ever made.
btw you only listed half of Miyazaki’s films and they’re all worth watching. The wind rises is personally one of my fav movies of his so I’d highly recommend starting there

Forshur, forshur, gotta catch up on Miyazaki.
I’ll give Wind Rises a go next.
The Master is absolutely a masterpiece, that lil cutie is my favorite movie of all time.
Appreciation only grows with time, it’s the Yeezus of his filmography.
Now that I think of it, I believe Ye has 7 masterpieces: MBDTF, Yeezus, 808s, College, Registration, TLOP, KSG

You're f***in up
Magnolia is his worst not counting Hard Eight
the melodrama is kind of exhausting on rewatches same with Cruise's performance
Lmao this is a new one

Even if I remove my opinion and bias, Miyazaki’s filmography is higher rated than PTA’s, so it’s hardly a new idea or a stretch

Try the OG Japanese version of Nausicaä of the Valley Of The Wind.

from best to worst imo:
1. There will be blood
2. Boogie nights
3. Magnolia
4. Inherent vice
5. Phantom thread
6. The master
7. Punch drunk love
8. Hard eight
I didn’t find magnolia melodramatic, I was suffering through traumatic loss at the time and the film was therapeutic for me, also was abused as a kid so related to the young boy

yea it's cool the first couple times but then
