seems more like it was inspired by Vineland rather than based on it

His Maron appearance is probably the best and most comprehensive long form convo he has out there. Not sure if WTF will still be going by the time PTA does his run but that would be a great stop
Is this his most accessible film since Boogie Nights?
It definitely looks to be his most spectacle filled.
If it's Star Wars I wonder why the trailers aren't highlighting the action
they're very restrained with what they're revealing
Ofc the Anti-America movie is big in China

By far his most accessible. I would say even more than Boogie Nights because of the subject matter. Rewatched it last week and it can be pretty depressing...

True, but I feel like Boogie Nights is the type of movie you could throw on with some more casual movie goers.
Compared to something like Phantom Thread or The Master.
just watched Midnight Run off PTA's OBAA prep list
classic
Philip Baker Hall playing a character named Sidney really tied the inspiration together

Watched it for the first time a few weeks back after him and Leo mentioned it during the Esquire interview. It was great. They really don't make movies like this anymore.
