lmao the change. im gonna hit up a few homies to talk about it. i can see why certain things go for people, i just think ive seen a lot of good movies this decade and i don't even see a lot. i still like eddington more this year.
but i think i'm just searching for what specifically was so great for people even after having convos or listening to pods/reading reviews

Idk man it’s hard for me to explain why something is great. Plus I feel like people shouldn’t be convinced if it’s great or not, it should be it either clicked with you in that way or didn’t.
For example you liked Eddington more, meanwhile I thought that movie was complete dog s***

i kinda disagree mainly because I think people have the capacity to see art in a different way and sensibilities are developed over time and can be impacted in different ways. but I also understand not finding it worth the energy or time to explain that. I know a lot of people who didn't like eddington and have had different reasons as to why and different convos with them as a result...but not everyones into the same art.
ima enjoy going thru this thread though and seeing what people said. not really trying to convince anyone out of their attraction and appreciation of the film, i just think the discourse is enjoyable

interested in hearing what you thought was dogshit about Eddington, especially in comparison to this

Now that I can explain, I thought it was wayyyy too early to do a 2020 film. I didn’t think the satire was clever at all and thought the whole mask and BLM s*** was corny and didn’t land the way he wanted.
Only part I like was when he popped Pedro
And I thought Austin butler side plot was random af and didn’t care about it at all
I was just ab to post this lmao
Read some people saying this is a random pairing, when they are about to film together for the new Scorsese movie
They talk about their new movie together in the segment too lol
this autoplayed for me afterwards and it was pretty cool n funny

i think i disagree on it being to early, and kinda resent the general notion since most movies that are contemporary get a pass if they're less "important" or lighthearted. Party movies, comedies, dramas. etc. but you're free to have that take ofc. like i personally don't understand why the movie would have to wait to be made or released, and wonder if its more reflective of some viewers not being ready or interested (and wonder how these people felt about the pandemic overall e.g. resentful of restrictions, mandates, scared, tired, happy, etc).
I thought it was clever in some spots but i don't think it was all satire, though it poked fun at a lot of different things. Especially a bankrolled antifa that flies around on private planes.
I can understand the austin butler side plot but its more of a mirror to the sherrifs character and how he see's himself as a man/provider especially in contrast to her late father, to the mayor, and austin butlers character. it seemed like an element of the covid cabin fever that played out in a neat way but I can understand not liking it. I had funnn watching n rewatching it.

Just saw this on IMAX. It was very good, but I don’t get why people are saying it’s the movie of the decade.
