Lol you didn’t know this? Eric Roth wrote the original that was more based around the FBI and Jesse’s character. Leo wasn’t feeling it so after Scorsese met with the Osage people he revamped the whole thing. Eric didn’t wanna rewrite it so they brought in PTA and he did an uncredited rewrite.

People even pointed out how the spanking scene was in the original screenplay for The Master
