Just realizing that was Chase Infiniti in Presumed Innocent. The way people were talking about her made it seem like it was her first ever acting performance but I get since it’s her first film. That was a strong supporting performance too
Lol she already was used to playing a famous stars biracial kid

You know what, I'll give it another shot. Guy Ritchie's narration had my eyelids fighting for their lives on my first watch but I'll look past it
Don’t bother that movies dumb as s***
As a big big big fan of Nolan, one of my GOATs, Dunkirk is probably bottom 2 of his for me too. I feel like what Nolan is good at just doesn’t really shine through in a war film
That’s crazy cuz to me Dunkirk is his best movie because it was able to hide his worst tendencies
One Battle After Another if the writing was good..
Bob Ferguson: Sensei? When I came to you with those plans, we thought we might start a chain reaction that would save the entire world...
Sensei Sergio: I remember it well. What of it?
Bob Ferguson: I believe we did.

Something about the choice for Sensei to wear those glasses with the wrap around cord is such an awesome detail to me I can’t stop thinking about it lol
Just makes so much sense for his character, it adds to the comfort and coolness like you’re in good hands when he’s on screen/Bob’s in good hands with his support
I guess that’s just his character though
and the extent of the resistance. they got something for everything.
i personally love the safety net that all of the characters were afforded.
I completely get ppl saying that Bob didn't do anything of significance to save Willa in the film HOWEVER...he was the one who raised her and even though he was stoned through a lot of it he seemed to teach her good survival skills that she thought was silly initially but eventually found them handy (the scene at the end before she shoots the bad guy when she's asking him for the code or whatever)
Ultimately she did save herself but probably with skills him (and her sensai) taught her over the years
I think Dolby is the superior viewing experience, but I want to see this again. Is worth seeing it in IMAX as well?
if u dont watch it in 70mm imax you are missing out like a lot
A tricky thing I’ve had with this movie is that it’s a movie about blackness and black women written unashamedly from a white mans perspective. I appreciate he doesn’t shy away or cop out of the ugliness of racism and also doesn’t luxuriate in it like Tarantino. But there is a trickiness there. I’m not sure if there were aspects written with others to massage his lack of cultural awareness but I have to say there is specificity to the Sensei Sergio set piece at the Latino Harriet Tubman spot that we know was conceived with Benecio. I feel there is nothing of that level granted to Black folx in the film to the point it feels like Anderson « understands ».
This isn’t a huge criticism but something I keep ping ponging on. I really think we are one meaningful Regina hall scene away from being an all-timer. Also sad Barksdale wasn’t in the movie long.

Yeah, but that's not really the issue, the issue is more centered around what we expect from the conventions of a story. It can feel sort of unsatisfying if you see your protagonist running around for three hours while having no real impact on the plot. It makes the story seem pointless. But then I'm reminded of movies from the 70s like Two-Lane Blacktop that just get by off of the vibe and the experience.
