YANDHIEh. I don't really think people are that tripped up over 4 words. It'd still just be "the new Leo flick" regardless of what they named it for most casuals. Same for his last film w/ Scorsese
Its a near 3 hour film that has to sell itself as an "action event" when its not really about those aspects at all. Weapons and Sinners had clear marketing focuses and immensely successful social media runs so people knew what they were going into. People don't really know what this film is about.
Don't think much of this really matters tho. Its gonna be PTA's biggest film and an awards hit regardless. His box office bar was never high, WB just made risky bets and allowed directors freedom which overall worked this year.
Also, Sinners and Weapons are Horror.
Horror functions like IP.
It makes money.

I really wish I could. Haven’t been on a film since November 2023. Moved mainly into social media and commercial work. Started my own thing. Love film but money is better and more consistent.

I mean its not that serious lol but like I do think between all the different trailers and the lengthy title there was very little for normal people to grab on to
Doesn’t matter to me at all, we f***ing won getting to see PTA with an MCU level budget the title could have been a full paragraph as far as I care
But part of me wonders if this is a big box office success what kind of opportunities it could open up for original scripts and bold directors like PTA within the studio landscape
And I do think it could have been marketed better, in a way that got normies into theaters like weapons, sinners, etc.

Sep 26, 2025·edited·1 replyThe movie had finally clicked when Lockjaw was shot by the Santa Club guy. There are no lines, both sides are hypocrites and it never ends. I was stuck on Teyana killing the black security guard at the beginning, to the Indian man getting paid to kill the kid. Like it was all a s\*\*\*show.
I'm on the fence if I actually liked the movie though. For PTA? I loved TWBB and Phantom Thread both 10/10s.....this? Maybe a 6 or 7.
