the way i see it, fame is a kind of a trauma and it freezes you so, whatever age you get famous at, you're stuck in it. Drake got big at 23/24? So that's why at 39, he runs around acting 23/24, worried about IG s*** and being unserious, like a 23/24 year old.
My man Murphy Lee cooking anybody
True brother
still kind of a weird angle, especially coming from a damn near 40 year old man who has to pander to Adin Ross and others in that realm.
I mean I think both of those things are just genuine interests to the artists. Don't think it's fair to call either pandering. Kendrick is obviously the "deeper" artist and I'm sure Drake genuinely loves gambling (so Stake/Kick) lol
With a lot of these disses generally and from both sides you can poke holes, it's about insulting the guy in the moment. Drake was looking for something to say, and to the casual fan who doesn't like Kendrick's deeper music it works to them. I get you though, to you and to a neutral who appreciates the topics Kendrick talks about it's a weird angle.
Amazing song that brought the beef to an end because anything more would've been bullying Kendrick
Lmaoo
kendrick has a s*** ton of hype behind him. ngl
his music is more than hype tho even though I think he's overrated. He's far more talented than Drake and has a way stronger discography.
Both have 4 classics.Drake is more versatile, Kendrick is a better story teller

I think Drake just wants to stay relevant and the youths interests is the way to maintain that for as long as possible. You're always gonna eventually be seen as the old head rapper, which idk if he's accepted yet so he wants to stay locked in with that younger audience as long as he can. Because at the end of the day (to me) in the mainstream, the younger audience dictates what's good & popular.

How is Drake more versatile?
Geniunely asking.

Yes this what he’s doing
Word for word at all of the shows,
You always felt like this, man, what did I miss?

I'm sure drake loves gambling too, that's his call. I just find it weird he's always around these college aged streamers. I get that he has to though if he wants to remain on top, but, yeah, it looks odd to me.
You can tell Drake kinda rushed that s***. He was over it after that and needed to get the last word

he had to! It all adds up to me as his tactical mistakes... you can't mock a guy for taking his time and then take your time!

this too, I think he's terrified of being seen as an oldhead or " unc" or whatever we're calling old people nowadays

I think he's done well to maintain it so far, it's slightly working, but we'll have to see as time passes if he can capture a new generation of fans again.
It works for him as well because I know you're saying they're college aged streamers but those guys feel like prime Drake fan ages. Adin born in 2000, 13 for NTWS then the music scene in his teens taken over by '16 Views / '18 Scorpion.

I go back to the thread on here of people being surprised Clipse outsold Wayne. It’s one thing to stay “relevant” but is he really building lifelong fans. I feel like if you’re constantly switching up to stay fresh then yeah you might hang around but you won’t really resonate with those new fans and in the process you kind of lose that connection with your old fans.
At the same time though, the Papis Angels crowd does seem to have a lot of that mental illness levels of the BeyHive/Swifties kind of pop star fandom so he might be safe forever with his dedicated fanbase.

I used to have a cat named after Murphy Lee
Was obsessed with the Air Force ones song as a youngster

Clipse thing didn't surprise me because Pusha T did a good job building with this new generation with King Push, Daytona, the beef with Drake & his old relationship with Kanye. Then they brought this project out with a good roll out and actual solid music. His old fans and new fans turned up.
In that same time period (basically since Carter V dropped) it feels like Lil Wayne has been half asleep on cruise control! Wayne relying on legacy whilst Push was actually continue to build. If Wayne woke up and had a team plan things properly he could be bigger rn, but they clearly don't care.
I think the weirdest line of this whole beef was "Always rapping like you 'bout to get the slaves freed" like, so what's the joke here, " look at this guy, rapping about serious topics. Why doesn't he rap about arguing with his girl at Cheesecake Factory like I do?"
Yeah. That line was easily the worst in the entire battle.
That said, I think Drake was going for the calling Kendrick "fake deep" angle but fumbled it with shock value.
Jay tried to do a similar thing to Nas during their beef.
On Blueprint 2, he said:
"Can't y'all see that he's fake, the rap version of T.D. Jakes
Prophesizing on your CD's and tapes."
"'Cause the nigga wear a kufi, it don't mean that he bright"
"Is it Black Girl Lost or shorty owe you for ice?"
It's a similar tactic of trying to call out of conscious rapper for being a hypocrite or positioning himself as pro-Black.
In both Drake and Jay's cases, it failed because Kendrick and Nas always showcased their flaws and how multi-faceted they are.
But it worked more effectively when Common dissed Ice Cube because Cube used to be a notorious flip flopper not much different from Snoop today.
glazing fake daughter songs in 2025 is worse
Keep in mind family matters entire weight rest on fake allegations about his son not being his and him beating his wife (same song where he sexualizes said wife mans tells her to shake as by name btw) ???and in heart of 6 he makes up that he was molested?
U could say hurt durr fake pedi allegations but those r based in sh it that was out there that people actually believe made him suspicious of that drake just not only pulled all that out his ass it wasn’t convincing in the slightest or clever and was easily dismantled
