Barbie is part of a genre I like to call “The Discourse Film” where its entire motive and existence is solely based on being part of trendy topics and to stay in feeds to create “discourse”. These films don’t allow of interpretation feelings. They’re purely made with academic Twitter brains in mind.

Most people haven't seen every nominated movie, obviously. But what I'm saying is that the people mad about Gerwig/Robbie not getting nominated for Director/Actress are clueless. Half of them don't even realize that that Gerwig and Robbie were nominated in other categories.

They couldn't adequately explain with any reasonable points who they should replace in the nominations list, but feel the need to make war on social media over the fact that Robbie wasn't nominated but the FIRST NATIVE AMERICAN WOMAN was. Or that Gerwig wasn't nominated for Best Director but the FIRST FRENCH WOMAN was for an international film!

Almost walked out. But I stayed so I could confirm my suspicions. My friends tried to defend it and we got in arguments and then a month later they were like “yeah this ain’t it”. People will look back at the movie and cringe. It won’t age well. Set design was cool though.

This is going to be an AWESOME Academy Awards with an excellent and progressive lineup of nominees, largely female in a staggering way.

But none of that matters because these two white women I heard didn't nominated from a movie I saw and I didn't see any of the others, so that makes people misogynistic

They are obviously way different but that doesn't mean I don't perfer Barbie. I've given the 3 Triet films I've seen 4 stars and my favorite of them was probably Sleeping with Victoria, not Anatomy of a Fall.
