If you can’t see the irony of Ken being nominated over Barbie in the “blockbuster movie for women, the BARBIE movie”, I feel like you’re being obtuse

    They are different categories....

I gave you the direct example of how Jamie Lee Curtis winnning over Stephanie Hsu was a great travesty. Both from same movie SAME CATEGORY

But she won you want to know why cause she is A WHITE WOMAN

    She won over Angela Bassett.

i gave this example HOURS AGO.

Same category is MORE RELEVANT THAN DIFFERENT CATEGORY

When the soul of the movie that gripped us was STEPHANIE HSU

    what is UNCLEAR

We show you the direct percentage of white people deciding the nominations and you want me to feel sorry for aa white woman. You want me to say race plays no factor at all in the reaction or the sense of entitlement to be nominated for an Oscar. Be FR with yourself brother

The logic of "the movie is about feminism and a man from the movie is being recognized but the woman category is stacked with tough competition because women actresses really did great last year " isnt the malicious snub you think it is. If Ryan Gosling wants to forfeit his nomination and give it to another man I am all for it stand on business

If you really think the snub is that foul don't go to the Oscars

Flame me, but I don’t actually agree with you. Everything is not just attributed to whiteness. There is nuance. Jamie Lee Curtis is also a movie star. I just don’t like this guessing game of chopping and dividing everything up by race and biases. Is there unconscious bias toward white people? I think so. But is there not also a push to have more inclusive stories? Aren’t the representation of some minority groups higher than what is represented in the population? I’m not sure of the breakdown, but you also have to remember, these voters are gonna do what is safe, and what has a narrative around it

If you think this is bad just wait until Emma Stone wins over Lily Gladstone

    Its not about everything.

The soul of the movie for EEAAO was and is Stephanie Hsu performance that is my opinion. I am not dividing everything into race.

Race plays a part in the Oscars. Its undeniable. The wealth disparity of the people in power and judges plays a part in the oscars. Yes narratives and fans being in uproar also plays a part. But at the end of the day controversey helps them. Viral moments help them. Upsets where everyone argues about it one way or the other for months helps them garner ratings from people that have STOPPED PAYING FOR CABLE

LIKE WHY IS THIS SO UNCLEAR

so few are actually watching live on Cable so they have to construct moments and upsets and get people arguing who are too emotionally invested in s*** that doesnt affect their lives

Its not stupid in that case it was objectively wrong.

I like Ryan well enough he seems like a nice fella but man this is all time lame.

The categories aren’t unlimited so somebody has to come out. In the Best Actress category the only person you have a case for is Annette Bening. I like Greta and Barbie but the Best Director category is 100% locked down, Zone of Interest? KOTFM? theres not a single f***in argument for Greta over any of them.

And all thats moot because not Ryan nor anyone involved is gonna name anyone that should get dropped, he/they are just gonna gesture towards this being an unfair. I like Barbie but if were being 100% honest nobody in that movie really deserves a nomination in any of the main categories, theyre getting thrown a few bones because they made a lot of money for the industry and people like them, let that be enough stop acting like babies.

I am not going into everything like "oh thats cause they are white" . Being white and rich paints a diffrent lens of how you appreciate some art and artist. Also being white and or rich means you only want to shake the table so much and have your own opinion. Its conditioning and its keeping YOUR people in power

like there isn't enough transparency even if some of the judges could be friends or close with the nominees....
