there’s definitely other factors like modern animation being pretty weak with even the best s*** not feeling like it has the edge of matureness of the best 2000s joints and it feels like the first new dreamworks movie people have given a s*** about in a long time that aren’t just babies and missing the Shrek series
i’m cool with kids or all ages animated movies getting more rep but i’m thinking bout s*** like Soul or Spiderverse
Soul especially cause wtf else came out in 2020 anyways

ElricI'm sitting here only vaugely liking and disliking them all.
As an og Elvis stan I expected to hate it but was very pleasantly surprised but it's still just a 3/5. Same with Top Gun. Liked parts of EE but other parts make me want to self harm. Cronenberg came and went with a few quotables. Even my boy Eggers let me down. Banshees is no Bruges. Fablemans no Irishman. Cate was good but film to on the nose for this era. Cameron lacks the clout to have me sit in the cinema for 4 hours.
Thoroughly enjoyed Puss In Boots, Multiverse of Madness and Wakanda Forever so I should probably just retire from having opinions

Or it’s just being valued that a film presents human messages like putting others needs before your own, the value of friendship, being grateful for what you have, facing fear and coming to terms with your own mortality in a fun and unexpected package? Along with a stellar voice cast and animation. Not too different of a case from Top Gun or even Avatar or EEAAO
Well done earnestness and sincerity in blockbuster films are being rightfully appreciated and that’s just really dope

I dunno. I think movies have always had “human messages”. Coming to terms with your mortality is the only angle that’s slightly unique, that gave it some heft.
I think people just find it fun.
