Moment of silence for former winners making massive productions to no acclaim Babylon, Bardo, White Noise

    Babylon was amazing

    Haven’t seen Bardo yet

    White Noise was absolutely terrible

I feel like y’all don’t be watching a lotta movies because I can easily name 20 worse films from last year than EEAAO

The racial angle of a film that feels like it was made like 20 years ago lol

Still, Fabelmans doesn’t really have any of that. It’s just a really well made family drama. Can’t see them giving that Best Picture in 2023, it doesn’t serve any agenda

I just found it boring tbh. Something about the dialogue and acting did not connect AT ALL.

There is the little bits of antisemeitsm and I’ve seen people say that’s the Oscar play but idk that feels cynical

Spielberg is the agenda tbh, honouring him, celebrating him for being honest and turning the camera on himself etc

That sounds great in theory, but I don’t think the Academy has any interest in doing that in 2023

I think Fabelmans is definitely good enough to deserve a win but I really doubt it does

I don't have the time to watch a lot of new films so I skip most of the things I know I won't like. Both of them I saw because of the hype sorrounding it (I don't like Ostlund's films but gave him another chance because of the palm d'or)

From the nominees I liked The Fabelmans and TAR and I still haven't watched Avatar and the german film
