I know The Father looked like s***ty Oscar bait but I saw it in theaters and it's actually a brilliant thriller. It f***s with your head the whole time and the acting is top notch.
Chloe can get random ass people to put in the performances of their lives, that's worth the award
That’s not really saying much. Playing yourself and telling real life stories isn’t a “performance of your life”.....you just can’t be too camera shy and can’t stutter
Chloe/Nomadland is such a random choice to put through the “hype machine”......I’m not sold yet on her tbh.
Tbh the hype machine only existed cause there was nothing else, in a normal year half of these films probably wouldn't be here

Doesn't look like Oscar bait at all. Really intriguing premise and heartfelt subject matter

Great point. It’s just weird that Nomadland was predicted as an Oscar winner from when it first premiered at festivals in September

The trailer is garb, I know a bunch of people who didn't want to see it because of the way it was advertised
But yeah it's excellent

deaf people won

Didn't like her earlier stuff but Nomadland was nice
Little hard to buy Hollywood royalty like Frances as a nomad but the rest of the cast was great
Is this the first time the presenter is also the winner of the award or part of the film?

I like Nomadland when I take it in as a documentary. Essentially that’s what it was even tho the staff didn’t wanna admit it.
A documentary with Frances playing Undercover Boss

Nigga was real slick how he showed the envelope too
