A shock/twist doesn’t make up for a movie that has nothing going for it outside of admittedly two very good lead performances. Yorgos let far too much get away from him and everything around the performances suffered as a result. It also has one of the worst scores I’ve heard in a long time and it BAFFLES me how it got so praised, just a terrible listen.

And for the record, Poor Things was my #1 film of 2023, and Kinds of Kindness was in my top 5 of 2024.

Not a dealbreaker for me at all, just one reason why I thought the first act was pretty rough, especially tonally. It gets a lot better as it goes along.
