THIS ALBUM IS REALLY CUTE AND ENGAGING. ITS JUST WITH SOME OF THESE TRACKS IMMEDIATELY WHEN THINGS ARE GOING AMAZING, MAN JUST CHANGES EVERYTHING.
ON FIRST LISTEN MY FAVS ARE
krumville
gray subviolet
nightmare paint
memories of music
on an axis
a barely lit path

Vinyl bonus track @op

I get why it didnt make the final cut but still really nice track, sounds like happy garden of delete
I'll be honest I didn't expect this to be largely instrumental and so same-y throughout, so will just need to let it sit for a bit to adjust my expectations. A Barely Lit Path is def top-tier
Magic OPN is maybe his best album to me also so expectations were a bit through the roof anyway

def got the Uncut Gems kind of drum sounds making a return, p sure inspired by Japanese soundtracks like Toru Takemitsu

oh yes v true was actually gonna say either Japanese film soundtracks or gamelan, but Japanese gamelan hits the nail on the head

love how on Uncut Gems u can rly hear the Tomita influence as well, must be in homage to Safdies using Tomita as a soundtrack for Heaven Knows What (which tbh still one of the realest uses of music in a film ever to me)

I can't get past Locrian Midwest, I keep replaying it
That short part with the little hums over the bass
"Daniel Lopatin returns with a nostalgic jam session full of proggy synth passages and ’90s alt-rock touches. It leaves a lot to admire but a little less to think about."
Already some high level waffling
