Album has pretty much no bars. I don't mean IG caption quotables, but like clever wordplay. 4:44 is pretty much the same subject matter and concept, but Jay was still able to show off his skills as a rapper. This is missing from Mr Morale

I don't feel like Kendrick really took responsibility for the cheating. At first he deflects with humor, at the end his mother's sexual abuse and slavery is the reason behind him cheating on his wife

The messaging is just a mess. He doesn't want to be heralded as a savior, but he's wearing a crown of thorns on the cover and in performances after Noname was 100% right, Cole and Kendrick both look dumb in how they chose to respond to her

Some of the songs just isn't enjoyable music. I have no desire to ever listen to We Cry Together, Aunties Diaries or Mother I Sober

I could listen to Count Me Out every day if I knew it wouldn’t burn me out. That song hits home for me. Some songs i have in my rotation regularly though.

Post examples of bars. I'm talking specifically wordplay, s*** for the listener to grasp. "i flip like exclamation points", "9s showing like they in their second trimester" type lines

That's more excuses and pointing the finger bullshit If you cheat, you cheated because you wanted to f*** other women. Own up to it. Familial trauma was not on his mind while he was f***ing those women, be fr.

And it's the same thing with him being proclaimed as the savior of rap, he doesn't acknowledge how his own actions resulted in that. "Will you let hip-hop die on the day my debut album drops?", "2pac came to me in a dream" and now he's acting like he's the victim and people just placed this role on him :jordanlaff3:

The messaging is flawed, it's not clear that the crown is satirical. Because he's rejecting this savior role on the album, he could just continue to do that by NOT wearing a crown meant to imitate Jesus I think Kendrick expected more people to care about his cheating and cancel culture bars, but people have their own s*** to deal with. So a lot of the message just falls flat

Bruh acted like he really wanted to know reasons why people don't enjoy this album then he just dismisses everything because it's not what he agrees with

I agree that the messaging was a mess. And that he's flip flops on the album b/n wanting to be a savior and not.

But he was clearly being ironic about the crown of thorns lol

And noname wasn't right, to the point she literally said she was wrong

Ironic or not, this is part of the messaging being a mess. If you really don't want to be thought of as a savior, you could just..not imitate Jesus Christ

I mean that's just how satire is. Someone wearing a crown of thorns rapping in a mic "I'm not your savior" is just clear juxtaposition.

A better example of what u saying is him saying
"Asked God to speak through me, that's what you hearin' now
The voice of yours truly"

Also agree w ur point bout him not taking any responsiblity that it's his fault he has a savior complex and not his fans
