Why do you think that

Luffy suddenly disappears before Kaido lands his last attack, and there were already oddities like Luffy somehow getting up looking just fine after Kaido made him bleed on the ground.

Some of this stuff was definitely added to the anime to flesh out what happened before Luffy fell and it's a cool way of showcasing Kaido's character and how overwhelming his strength is

kaido hallucinating a fight after beating luffy into the ground makes zero sense to me. Idk if this is a general consensus people are coming to but that’s not what I saw lol. Their last clash ended with kaido knocking him off the island and I don’t see how that happened if kaido hallucinated the fight

How do you explain Kaido seeing Luffy one second and smashing down repeatedly and then catching himself when he notices that Luffy isn't there?

Cause smashing down isn't going to knock Luffy off the island so that must have happened earlier
