most rappers aren't gonna give their opponent the respect of saying they have a classic in the midst of battle
and beyond that, Take Care is a 50/50 blend of rap and R&B / Pop. it's not a pure rap album. so when Kendrick goes at Drake for classics, it's in the discussion of Hip-Hop Classics.
Take Care to many people is a classic, but it's just barely considered a rap album, even though he barred out on it.

Nah it def got a lot of hate at first lmao and it was mostly because of Marvin's Room
Take Care I feel was the album that really started those "Drake the type" kinda memes making fun of him for being soft and simping.
It did start to get more love as more singles were released, and I feel NWTS receiving a better response when it dropped did get more people to check out Take Care again and that helped further change the perception around it.
Not for me though. NWTS just made me dislike Take Care more because of how long and poppy it was in comparison.
