I take a calcium-magnesium supp with some other stuff for bone and joint health and then the protein powder I use occasionally has every essential vitamin and mineral you need in it. Aside from that I just eat a varied diet and my bloodwork is A1.
what protein powder do you use?
what protein powder do you use?
Huel
Damn has a lot of fat in it. Does it taste good?
Tastes fine to me I have the vanilla one. I don't use it as a meal replacement like they talk it up to be tho. Just have 1-2 shakes a week and I also bake protein bars with it. Also nothing wrong with fat.
best vegan cheese recs @Pointes
I tried Daiya and thought it was okay but apparently thats s*** tier

I think it's like their 'cutting board' version that's better. Miyokos is great for more spreadable cheese and stuff you'd serve with crackers. Some people like Follow Your Heart for cheddar style shreds.
I think we mostly use daiya for stuff ngl and I think it's fine but I was never big into cheese before going vegan anyway.
Thought I'd bump this again as I'm really paying even more attention to my diet. Be hitting around 2700 calories with 150g protein these days. And people have the gall to ask where vegans get their protein.

What’s a typical day like of that
Had a friend who went vegan but ended up having to get surgery bc of lack of certain nutrients and vitamins or something is there like a checklist you guys have to go through to make sure you’re healthy while on this diet?

Tofu scramble for breakfast, nuts and protein shake for snacks at work, sandwich for lunch, big dinner usually incorporating beans and rice or pasta.

that's fked man what was he missing?
I've been vegan 7 years I just get my bloods done every 6 month and I usually eat the same sort of stuff so I know i'm generally fine

That's exceedingly rare. Vegans really only have to worry about lacking in B12 and even then symptoms take years to show up, which is why it's kind of a sneaky vitamin to be missing out on. But these days plant milks are fortified with it and supplements are readily available.
There is a very small percentage of the population (something like .001%) who do actually require meat to survive. But generally anyone can thrive on a vegan diet. But if the guy was only eating processed faux meats then u know, that's not ideal. But then again mfers have trash diets where all they eat is steak and Cheetos so

Imma have to ask her next time I talk to her but keep in mind she was being hella cheap with what she was eating
What do you recommend to be my grocery list if I wanna try a vegan diet?

Yea I think the fact is was hella processed foods might’ve been a factor too
What should I put on my grocery list to start?
This year I spent 3-5 months without any meat
had some rice spinach for lunch today
I think I'll be a vegan as of now
Tried to put my folks on some meatless Monday. They enjoyed the food , but all they kept asking was "Where's the meat tho?"

Make what you like or why you're used to tbh. Most dishes can be made vegan unless it's like...90% meat lmao.
But u can make great curries, tacos, burgers, etc. Sub in tofu for eggs with a scramble breakfast, do pancakes or waffles. Stuffed mushrooms, potato salad, roast vegetables, red beans and rice, all kinds of soups n stews. There's so many great recipes out there too.
I got a couple cookbooks that helped me early on but also minimalistbaker and r/vegangifrecipes are nice.
So instead of thinking "what do I buy now" think "I want to make X Y and Z and then make a list of the groceries". It'll make it easier imo.

ya hate to see it
Is there vegan bacon? I really miss bacon
I've tried a few methods and they usually fall pretty flat. Can't get that same flavor. But the rice paper one was good, just different.

Something about that flavour that can't be replicated unfortunately
