Wait so Xbox is 12TFs but running slower at 1.8GHz and PS5 is 10TF but much faster, running at 2.5GHz??? Damn So which will get better FPS... hmm

Apparently gpu clocks have performance increases beyond what is shown in tflops calculations, so we don't know. For now Xbox has the edge.

Only the top 100 ps4 games at launch? Tf

Mark Cerny himself from the Eurogamer article. Again I'm not pretending to act like I know everything which is why I said for now Xbox has the edge

the boost clocks? these are the clocks that have been specified in the tech breakdown. So the gpu is clocked at 2.23ghz resulting in 10TF of compute. This is at peak conditions the clock may run lower in non ideal conditions

If this is the article your talking about

Ya I'm referring to this part:

"Performance is noticeably different, because 'teraflops' is defined as the computational capability of the vector ALU. That's just one part of the GPU, there are a lot of other units - and those other units all run faster when the GPU frequency is higher. At 33 per cent higher frequency, rasterisation goes 33 per cent faster, processing the command buffer goes that much faster, the L1 and L2 caches have that much higher bandwidth, and so on," Cerny explains in his presentation."

Oh ok you said gpu clocks so i thought it was referring to clocks, this is about architecture design allowing this gpu to get more performance from 10TF and not clocks changing to increase TF numbers

Ya im not saying the Tflops changed. Just meant that the higher gpu clocks of the PS5 compared to Xbox leads to hidden improvements not visible by just looking at the numbers. Sorry if it came across as confusing

Its all good man, did you ever find an article saying all ps4 games work? Playstation blog and eurogamer say its the top 100 still

Yeah I think that's actually incorrectt. Cerny just had weird wording when referring to boost clocks and the backwards compatibility, but rn it seems it's only available to games that Sony determines as compatible after their own testing.

    First Take

Xbox has a lil better specs from what I understand. Idk if it’s enough to make the majority of people switch tho. In the end like every console war it’ll come down to games and price

literally the only people who care about specs like that are the 9 xbox soldiers still left lol

if it has marginally worse performance but everyone plays it and its cheaper, then, just like 2013, its going to win

  • Mar 18, 2020

Xbox has to keep it close from jump street (first couple years) cause after PS5 developers start getting into high gear its over

The ps4 had better specs in 2013 bro and it was cheaper

And you guys are acting like the ps5 wasn't overclocked to hit 10.3 in the first place

The xbox series X is more like 20-25 percent more powerful

From what I understand its BC but only supports like 100 PS4 games on release and them more gonna have to get added. Heard that Xbox did something similar this gen but not sure

New Xbox can play all Xbox one games plus all bc 360 and bc original Xbox from what I’ve read.

    PS5 can do 100 PS4 games? Yikes

Why is the ps5 backwards compatibility so bad?

Because obviously the system is just too advanced and fast to play those games, they just couldn't handle the power of the playstation/s

In reality it's because sony knows they don't have to spend money and resources on devolping it to win so they just went with the bar minimum requirement.

Its kinda been there M.O for the past 5 years.

Damn that doesn’t sound very good for the consumers.

Sony is a failing company. I think they should not be on cruise control

    yep

I wasn't expecting PS2/PS3 BC tbh cause not even PS4 had that s*** but not even supporting all PS4 games at launch had me shocked ngl

But didn't you hear? They have a really fast magic ssd that makes them more powerful regardless of specs because they said so, isn't that wonderful!!!!
