Well that depends on which game it is... But it should improve some of them. While some might only get minor improvements like the text will look better and the lightning will be better as well. And some will run and look sharper.

And yes you should be able to upgrade the PS4 version of a game to the PS5 version of it as long as that's supported but you'll of course have to insert the disc of that game every time you want to play it.

Never looked through my purchase history on ps5 before but I was curious. I’ve spent $4,000 in 6 years and that’s for about 200 games, so it comes out roughly $20 a game. Not bad. Obviously I waited for deep discount on some stuff, and that includes a few years of premium of course, but I also bought dozens of games at full price on launch. Sometimes using gift cards that were discounted from Costco or Newegg obviously.
