It’s because people resell just the copy of the game to places like GameStop and then try to sell the collectors edition stuff online through markets like craigslist, eBay, etc

I mean it wouldn’t make sense any other way

Any buyer could get the disc easily on the cheap from anywhere and just put in the collectors edition they bought and have the full set

if the digital is $399 and physical is $499, I think the digital will end up outselling the physical tbh.
