seconding mets. try out turnover's album peripheral vision, both nouns albums, also glocca morra, weatherday and anything sam ray has been involved with.
weatherday is a good one, can't believe I forgot them

I love this song
Title Fight too of course, but I’m still holding onto hope that they’ll be back at some point
i f***ing miss snowing so much. i miss i hate sex, i miss letters from catalonia, so many more
the curse of the scene is that either you break up before you make a 2nd album or one/more of your members gets outed as a sexual predator after you do
I remember f***ing with I Hate S***years ago, good ol Canadian band. Why did they break up again?
Also, so true
it's become an ongoing trend with these bands

Snowing was my f***ing favorite. I was OBSESSED with the FYEB ep lmao. So many great bands, I could go on and on. Thread is making me reminisce like crazy
So true though, s***s sad
will never forgive letters to catalonia breaking up then basically becoming wristmeetrazor
I gotta listen to Wristmeetrazor
honestly want one more reunion show so bad cause i never got to see them
Damn, I was lucky enough to see them a handful of times. Always a great show.
I’m sure they’ll do it at some point, just a matter of when
how did the word ‘scene’ become attached to this
You weren't alive in the 2000s brother?
It's bringing back the alternative/indie sound, probably not the subculture though unless you go to the shows. Maybe someone can answer your question better
Man I'm probably not in on this.
I f*** with early emo like american football but as a 2000s kid it makes me cringe
Plus whole genre seems full of predators using being soft as a trojan horse
what i’ve been listening to a lot recently:
nirvana - nevermind & in utero
the doors - discog (fave: self titled)
the beatles discog (fave: magical mystery tour)
hyperpop (idk if this helps lol)
kanye discog (fave: graduation)
kid cudi MOTM1&2
and a lot of psychedelic rock
if you haven't heart sunny day real estate, definitely look into them. all of their albums are great but the rising tide (their newest, 2000) might be closest to what you're used to.
on the opposite end of the spectrum, antioch arrow's gems of masochism is kind of psychedelic and art punky.
also random and might not be appealing to you at all, but i remember reading that i hate sex's first ep circle thinking was inspired by nirvana's tourettes. i hate s***is a screamo band so idk how but circle thinking is amazing.
Paramore is a part of the original 2000s scene tbh, All We Know Is Falling is an alternative/emo album. Maybe they moved away from that sound, but that album is rooted in phxc. Hayley is from that subculture as well.

Yeah, us 2000's kids think about how "lame and weird" this s*** was, like that whole "rawR xD meet me at SpencerZ giftz" type music and tumblr culture attached to this
Kind of weird how 2010's kids find it cool because we rejected the f*** outta it.
oh well, one man's trash is another man's treasure.
I will say that Paramore got hits tho
Where is mom jeans
F*** Bart! Anyway... I think they are in the list not the image, I will probably make my own chart soon adding all of y'alls recommendations
what were everyone's everyone's xcore/scene albums of the year?
mine were 100% dogleg by melee, frail hands' parted/departed/apart, illuminati hottie's free i.h. (i love the direction she took, i hope she sticks with it) and gulch's impenetrable cerebral fortress.
i might have missed some releases this yr bc i don't really have anywhere to keep up on alt record releases so @liluglymane @fleur if you have any recs pls post them

I was born 1999 so my memories of it are this weird kid on my street who wore eyeliner and used to light fires
Just completely put me oft
wouldnt be a scene revial without some deathcore too

I feel you g, it's not for everyone. I find some of the culture and fandom cringey as well, I'm mostly here for the music
Also, it's documented that unfortunately some band members are absolute creeps towards little girls and take advantage of their fanbase since their music is very relatable and opening in their storytelling. However, in social media era it helps that these creeps are usually outed almost instantly instead of waiting years after the incident happened like with Jank or Mom Jeans.

Yeah you're totally right
I wish all of the good ones who dont do all that success tho

Yeah
that's relatable it just reminds me of some s*** during high school and middle school. born '93 here
but yeah I mean some of the music was good just the culture surrounding it...
That's understandable!
Some of the music goes in hard, I was just talking about the attitude and culture of "emo"
